Go to bat with a MLB Strat!

Fender New York Mets and New York Yankees LifestyleBaseball, hot dogs, apple pie…and Stratocasters? Yes sireee, Bob Euecker. Just in time for baseball season, Fender is releasing official MLB Stratocasters. Each features a team logo and “custom designed landmark imagery,” which is just a fancy way of saying “you can practically smell the beer and nacho cheese.”

Perfect to display in your man cave (or lady den), these Strats are also meant to be played, with 21 medium jumbo frets, three standard single-coil Strat pickups, and a six-saddle vintage-style synchronized tremolo.

The bodies are alder, but the C-shaped necks (like many baseball bats) are maple. So feel to remove yours, throw a vintage Fuzz Face in the air and swing for the fences (but please don’t).

The first group of team guitars available includes the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants.

Kind of cool, and I would like to have Dodger Strat, but the “Baseball, hotdogs, and apple pie” is likely just misleading as that usually goes with American, which this guitar does not appear to be. Looks like a black MIM standard with a silkscreen. Seems like they could have at least done the body in the team color itself, but then they would have had to charge more than the $250+ that it already looks like they are charging above the MIM standard price.
