Just to bump an old thread...
I recently saw Dweezil Zappa giving a tour of his studio & some of his dad's gear. He has a burnt Jimi Strat from some festival that Jimi & Frank both played at. Jimi's tech gave the guitar to Zappa & he forgot all about it. Dweezil later found it, completely disassembled, under the stairs in Frank's house. He asked if he had ever though about fixing it up & his dad told him that he could if wanted to. He rebuilt it (hardware, electronics, etc.) & plays to this day. It was a pretty cool story. He's got quite an amazing collection of amps, effects & guitars.
