If the guitar speaks to you then purchase it. Having the guitar you truly desire will make you play with that extra added umph. But if you have no preference then going the Squier route will def. not be a bad decision. I prefer the Squier Standards, which sound awesome on a Fender Blues Junior Tube Amp. I have not had the chance to play any of the Classic Vibe Series so I can't comment on those. I agree with Hugh... Craigslist can be your best friend in finding a great used Squier which will then allow you to spend some extra money on a nice amp (tube preferably). Congrats on deciding to get back into it!!!!
