I have myself compared guitars with full size steel blocks, full size zinc blocks and the CV versions, and I too can hear no difference in tone, sustain etc (new strings do make a huge difference, and that's what you put on your guitar right after a trem block upgrade right?).
But!.... I just hate the cheap look of the CV versions, and I will definitely be changing mine out at some point (there are some issues with these guitars in the trem dept, like the guitar staying slightly sharp after pulling back on the trem and releasing it again (and thats with a graphite lubed nut)......maybe a full size heavier steel block would help....I don't know?)....
