Basic diff: P-Bass & Jazz Bass

What are the basic configuration and sound differences between these two fender basses?

Jazz basses were given the name 'jazz' because Leo fender thought that the slimmer body and neck profile would suit jazz players so the naming was due to physical more than tonal differences
