Vibro Champ

I picked up this little bad boy the other day and thought I would post a pic.

I had one late last year. Cool little amp. Really nice clean tones; the dirty models are lacking IMO. A good little practice amp.

I love it. It sounds great for a small amp. In my opinion it blows away the champion 600 and the valve junior. It is the best in 5 watt amps out there. Maybe some boutique amp is better but I have not seen one. I paid 189.00 for it.

They are nice little amps. The clean tone was better than I expected considering the SS rectifier, but the distortion really requires a good pedal...otherwise it's very muddy, IMO. However, that's mostly due to the rectifier. In this price range, you won't get a high-end tube simulation with the diodes. I also found the voicings to be a bit strange, but that's very subjective.

I think they are a bit overpriced compared to the pure tube competition when buying new, but there are some really bargains on the used market. Last year, my favorite pawn show in Dallas had several of them for $99. At that price, it's a real winner for a beginner or maybe a backup/bedroom/travel amp, IMO.

I got mine used for $175 and sold it for that a month later........I think they do make a good little practice amp.
