since I'm only playing as a hobby, I only have two amps. I have a Gibson Explorer(tube amp), which I've had since 1966 when I started playing. and I also have a Crate G60 that I bought in '85 when I bought my Les Paul. that's all right now, unless I count the small Hartke amp that I just bought for my daughter. it's a little practice/beginner amp.

I have a 1995 Peavey Blues Classic.......highly underrated amp, all tube and a great kicking 15" speaker! My practice amp is one of those little VOX ADVT30's.....really nice tones! I just bought a FAB AMP head used from a local guy.......have just read some good and not so good things about this company but for $100, it seems like an interesting 10w tube amp.

Did Peavey make the classic series as far back as 1980? I have the Blues Classic and I was under the impression that those were released in the mid-90's.......but I am no expert!!!

Rivera Clubster 25. Basically a smaller version of the Fender Deluxe Reverb II. Sweet strat tones, but can get overwhelmed with big bass notes from humbuckers.

Fender 65 Reissue Twin Reverb, Eurotubes replacement tubes;

Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb-Amp, stock;

Gibson (mojotone) GA-5 reissue, stock so far;

2 Peavey Classic 50 2 x 12s, one stock, and one with Weber Ceramic Blue Dogs and Eurotubes replacement tubes. Stupidly, the amps are in 2 different places 660 miles apart so I cannot compare them.

Bubbanov

P.S. I gave my Bandit II to my brother in law. June I think?

Hey Boris......is the Eurotube mod a noticable improvement? I think I still have the stock tubes (whatever they are!). Actually I think a couple are Sovteks since I remember having to replace a few at the turn of the century.

I just put Eurotubes in my Crate, one of the preamp tubes was bad when I got it so I still have a stock preamp tube in with the JJs but there is still a TON more definition and dynamic response. Feels much more 3 dimensional, before it sounded a little flat and cold.

I've got a nice 1965 Bassman that's a virtual Tone Monster! Starts smoking at about 5 on the dial. Takes pedals well too.(tubescreamer) I also have a 1969 Plexi Clone my amp tech built for me. 50 watts of pure rock. All Mercury Magnetics inside. I've actually got this head sitting on a 1967 Dual Showman cab w/D130's inside. Qiute a bedroom rig. LOL Mike

Crate GX-40C

some old harmony amp (no model on it)

the harmony sounds like something bb king would use and the crate sounds real clean at low to mid volume

Deluxe Reverb reissue
Princeton Reverb reissue
Micro Cube

These are the keepers, and I love the Princeton's slight darkness or depth for lack of better description as well as how it is full and rich sounding at low volumes.

I had Blues Junior and Deluxe in the Hot Rod series and at this point wish I would not have wasted the time and money and just got these to begin with. I realize the Blues Junior is very popular, so I guess I'm more into 6xx tone than EL-84.

Have fun shopping.

There's more to the sound of an amp than the tubes, they are one of many factors which determine the sound an amp produces. The Blues Jr is definitely capable of a wide range of classic Fender sounds. It doesn't do a pure Tweed sound but if you truly crank up the mid-range you can get pretty close. It is not exactly on center as a Blackface sound but by soldering one wire between two lugs on the mid-range pot you can get pretty close and still retain the ability to crank the mid-range and get the Tweed sound. Frankly, IMO the Blues Jr is one of Fender's best efforts and it's hidden in their low priced lineup.

Pretty simple:

83 (?) Peavey decade - any good speaker replacements for it?
Roland Cube 30x
RMS 20 bass practice deal. Strats sound good thru it, but no distortion.

Loving the Cube. It has the sounds I want. MAy not be completely accurat models, but I love the tones it gives me and I listem to me more than anyone else does.

Hmm ...
Fender HR Deville (not used)
Klemt Echolette BS40 modded to a JCM800 (not used)
Teisco VT1 (currently in pieces)
All the rest I built myself ...
Tweed Pro 5E5A (current gigging amp)
Tweed Deluxe 5e3 (with 6G3 tone stack)
Marshall-style 18 watt
Tweed Princeton 5F2A with many modifications
Tweed Vibrolux 5F11 with submini tubes (3 watts) Primary home and recording amp.

I also have a Zoom G2 for noiseless practice and recording

Currently doing Spice simulations of a very special tweed Twin (5e8 )-based amp, which should be done by the end of 2009.

Also considering building a Soldano Atomic 16 with a 1-watt output stage, but I just got a Princeton chassis cheap; so the plans may change.

Ok, So I sold the Princeton and got a Fender Blues Jr. Very pleased.

Not working on the Marshall half stack anymore...settled on a Marshall MG10CD instead for the headphone jack.

Blues Jr. with JJ tubes and a Celestion Blue instead of the stock Eminence
Gretsch G5222 with JJ cryo tubes and a Jensen ceramic instead of the stock whatever-it-was

Very happy with both, there's more work I could do on them but I'm not as handy with a soldering iron as I'd like to be, so might have them done for me someday but at the moment they're pretty awesome as main/practice amps respectfully.

Roland Micro Cube (7 lbs, 4" spkr, AC/DC power)
Roland Cube 30X (10" spkr, 30 watts, great onboard effects)
Roland BC-30 (Blues Cube 30; my favourite, 12' greenback spkr, beautiful clean channel)
Peavey Envoy (10" spkr, 40 watt SS)

I HAVE owned:
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe
Ampeg ss170C (100 watts, twin 12`Celestions)
Peavey bandit (100 watts, 12`Scorpion peavey Spkr
Ibanez amp with 10`spkr in the 80`s
Ace Tone made in Japan tube amp in the 70`s
Sears amp WITH TREMELO - WOW! in the 60`s when I was in high school

My all around favourite of all those: The Roland BC-30 followed by Fender HRD
