Twin Reverb: 65 RI vs. 70's silverface
I'm lookin at these two amps and was lookin for some opinions between the two. I used to have a early 70's silverface and I loved it. I don't have it now cause I was young and stupid. Anyhow I can get either of these for about the same price used. Which do y'all think is the the better route? BTW I've never played the RI.

from what I've been learning about Fender amps, the 70's silverface would be the better choice. there were some good amps that came out of the 70's. but as I said, I'm just learning. I'm sure that others will be able to tell you more about the two amps.

I too had a 70's silver face and also was young and stupid (translation: I needed some short term $$ and sold the thing). It was the best amp I have ever had.

I think you guys are seconding what I was thinking. Have you guys played with the RI? I just wonder how it compares. Probably go silver anyhow.

I've never played a Silverface, but I have a '65 TRRI. It is a great sounding amp. I can't stand to haul it, but I love to play it.

So I got to do a side by side. I tried a 65 RI and a 77 silver. I tried the RI first and it was a very nice amp, no doubt. But as soon as I hit the first chord on the silverface it was obvious. The old one had a much richer and fuller tone. As soon a I get a little more cash that will be the route I go.

My experience with this;
I played a reissue 65 Surper reverb.... Sounded really good,
Then I played my 66 Super, It sounded Better, so I bought it.
Having read allot of people opinions, I think that the vintage amps are all a little different even the same models made in the same month and year.
It seems you have to play allot of them until one speaks to you.
I Have found it is the same with guitars too.
It is probably also holds true to reissues.
I played a VibroKing reissue that sounded fantastic.
So who knows....
Good luck in your searches
