What is your 'prefered' amp to use with a strat?
From most of the forums that i've frequented, Fender seems to be the most popular choice of amp to use with a strat, what do you guys use/prefer with a strat?

To be honest it doesn't make any difference to me, as long as it's a valve amp. My current gigging amps are from Mesa, Orange and Fender and I love the sound of my guitars, including Strats, on all of them, so voted other

The best amp I ever used was a silverface Twin Reverb so I voted Fender.

Voted Fender since I'm currently using a Hot Rod Deluxe and am Looking to pickup a Blues Jr in the near future.
I have also owned a VOX AD15VT and didn't like it. Prior to the HRD I was using a Orange Head throu a Fender Cabinet but also didn't quite click with it "throu it was much better than the VOX".
In the end I seem to always come back to Fender. I'd love to get a Deluxe Reverb!

I use a blackface 60's Bassman and a custom-built 50 watt Plexi-clone. Both produce amazing tones with my Strats.I use a tubescreamer, sparingly, with them sometimes. Mike

Given the option I choose Fender amps. However, as long as it is loud enough and gets a very good clean sound I am a happy guy. I figure if it is clean I can always add dirt. If it's always dirty there's no real way to clean it up.
I have two amps currently. One is a Voodoo Rocket 15w and the other is a Fender Pro Junior. I love keeping it simple.

Badcat....and I own 2 Fenders, a Mesa, a Roland, and even a Line6/Bose rig. A Badcat is superb sounding even at relatively low volumes straight into the amp....slap you in the face good, both clean and dirty.

I share this philosophy Bob, you can add dirt but you can't add clean.

Agreed....but how you get it dirty is important. That's what I love about Badcats....all you need is a volume control on your guitar and you can go from bright and clean to boutique "balls out." With a good clean amp, you need outboard gear.

Fender ( deluxe reverb, super reverb) for the clean chording sound, Marshall ( 50 watter) for the solo lead sound .

I think Fender for a Strat. I really like Marshalls but think they sound at their best used with a Gibson, especially a Les Paul.

There seems to be fairly wide acceptance of the theory that Leo intended the guitar and the amp to be inseparable, that the instrument consisted of both components. Many will argue that a strat only sounds like it should through a Fender Amp. Let us also not forget that Marshall, Vox, and Mesa, at least all descended from Fender.

I like Bob's clean/dirt theory.
I'm using a Peavey at the moment, but the Blues Jr. seems to be a very popular thing for all the guys who are doing blues.
I'm secretly (or not so much) GASsing for a Vox amp, the AC15 probably, for chimey cleans. I'm less interested in sounding more like all the other guys who have Strats :-)

There are a few different "Fender" amp tones. My current favorite being a Bassman clone. I also like mya Vox AC15 clone with my Strats.

Seriously, it kindof depends on what you play, but if there is one Swiss Army amp for the Strat, I'd have to vote for the Deluxe Reverb. And what's reall cool - the reissues sound as good as the vintage.

I Have an original Silver face Deluxe Reverb that i'm going to completely rebuild. I had an original Twin Reverb as well, but I'd rather not remember the circumstances surrounding how i 'lost' that amp *tears*

Best amp I ever had was a Fender Vibroverb, currently have a Blues Junior(great amp by the way), which replaced a Fender Champion 600...I had but returned one of those Vox modeling amps
there's something about a Fender with a little bit of that Fender reverb

I'm very, very pleased with my Genz Benz El Diablo 60 & 2 X 12 G-Flex cab.
They really don't get enough exposure, but I get so many compliments when I play out with it.

I voted Fender. I'm really enjoying this Custom Vibrolux Reverb-Amp with the 2 ten inch alnicos in it.
But I wanna mention Peavey. I have 2 Classic 50 2 x 12s (one with Eurotubes and Weber Blue Dog Ceramics) and these are nice amps with not just a Telecaster but also a 3 single coil Strat.

Agree with you there!
I`m no expert, but after a cursory read of the Tube Amp book, it seems most beloved amps are a copy or a variation on Leo Fenders classics.
To test the `beauty` of a clean amp you can simply and slowly strum a chord across 6 strings and listen.
A lot of tone for lead and rhythm comes directly from the players style though!

I'm loving my Fender super champ XD! Lots of awesome sound in there, but I find myself playing on the blackface clean channel most of the time as I can hear my mistakes there. Sometimes jump to the tweed champ for a bit different tone.

My Princeton Reverb is the favorite with _all_ each of my 3 electrics. My Deluxe is a slightly brighter and bigger version of same. I did have an EL-84 amp and guess I'm just hopelessly addicted to black face tone.
I am slowly building a 1/2 watt combo but can't say if I like it at this point.

It depends on what I'm doing/playing, style/sound-wise. If I need "clean and traditional", I use my Tremolux; if I need "british/indie", I use my Vox, if I need "classic or modern rock", I use my Marshall. The goal dictates the amp.

If you want a cheaper option then a wem dominator is a 2xel84 amp that you can probably get hold of, I had one and got another a long time later - very chimey cleans when using two in stereo with a tiny bit of chorus and delay. Turn them up and you get anice marshall type sound. The 2nd one had to be repaired so I put vox cloth on it and used the remains from my roland microcube. I love these amps but you would have to mic them up if you want to play live. Good as a practice amp though and quality of sound is great, even if not in looks. They do need the right tubes otherwise they don't sound right, likely they will have the original tubes in, as the ones they used to put in them in the 70's were very good.
Not sure whether to vote marshall or other, because the original 2x el84 18 watt design was by wem not marshall.
