on the G.A.S. again
this time, I'm going for an overdrive pedal...
I already have an EH English Muff'n, that I like, but the 12V thing is a drag !
I want it velcroed (?) on my Pedalboard, that only has 9v energy output.
And it's too big, too.
In my net roaming, I stumbled upon a few pedal I seem to like (and from the selection, you can understand what kind of pedal I need...)
- Zendrive
- Green Line from SPF-kinda like it, and I love Peter Green's tone.
-Howie from Menatone (the clips on Utube sound A-ma-zing, but Harmony Central Reviews are somewhat mild about the pedal...and somebody says that the pedal doesn't really sound like those clips !
- Top Boost in a Can, from Menatone, maybe too complex?(8 knobs !)
-Fulltone Fulldrive
-Love ěpedal's Curch of Tone
I need, as you can see, a True Bypass Pedal, 9V, no buzz, no mud, lot of crunch and Amp Tubes Screamin' (but no Ibanez TS, please, I had one (non mod) and I found it buzzy and annoying.
If it has two switch to stomp on, it's obviously better.
Have you ever tried any of these ?

I"ve had a Fulldrive and liked it. But distortion pedals are so varied and it's really a personal preference kind of thing. I know I've owned at least a dozen. The FullTone '69 does a good Hendrix-style "Fuzzface" sound.
My personal preference lead me to settle more on boost than distortion.
Oh, another good distortion pedel is the 80's Ibanez Sonic Distrotion. It's like the Tube Screamer with extra distortion circuitry. I think that Maxon is making them "new" again. They made the SDs for Ibanez in the '80s and are making them with their own name on it now. If you can find on that is from 1981 or so one Ebay you'll find it to be a good all around pedal.
Good Luck.

I recently picked up a Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic. It runs on AC voltage, so it doesn't meet all of your requirements, but it is true bypass and has two drive channels, so you can get a total of three sounds - clean, dirty, and distortion.

Tick VG to Bob
Keeley modded BD2. Gives me boost from clean to hi gain. Not F***ing Thrash obviously. But turn down the gain and let the boost drive your pre-amp - if it's valve obviously , if not, nice boost and tone anyway.

Yeah, I have actually modded my Blues Driver a bit and love it even more. Go figure. I was actually thinking of getting another one and keeping two of them on my pedal board. I think that would be a lot of fun. In the mean time I think I will play around with my FZ-3 FUZZ together with the Blues Driver and see what happens.

I like the fuzzhead its quite smooth, but it's really versatile, especially with both Silicon and Germanium options. It might not be harsh enough for some, but its cool that you don't lose the tone of the guitar when its engaged.
I upped the gain a fraction with one of the internal pots, as I'm playing a bit of ZZ top style stuff in a live set at the mo' and then boost it with the JB or the BD2....or both
