Some HTML, Please?

It'd sure be nice if we could post photos and links using HTML. I use Flickr for my photo hosting and its TOS requires that any photos posted to other websites have a link to Flickr as part of the display code.

It's a real bummer to have to strip out all of the HTML that Flickr provides for you and replace it all with icky ol' BBCode.

If you look at the options in the editor window while writing a reply, you can disable either HTML or BBCode in each posting. Maybe that will already do the trick? I think there's also an option in your user profile if you want to do that permanently.

Some HTML is permitted. Other HTML is restricted for security reasons. To post a link simply type the URL into your post and it will automatically be converted into a link.

For posting photos here I suggest you use the Photo Gallery here, it's free, its right here and then use the URLs with BBCode.

I already host my photos elsewhere and don't care to always be uploading pix, you know?

Anchor tags and image tags are not only NOT allowed, they are STRIPPED OUT of a post, so there's no way to convert them to BBCode after posting without starting from scratch.

Not very user friendly.

HTML for imgs and anchors are not permitted for security reasons only.

But both are available with BBCode. After posting is too late. Sorry.

Not very user friendly, is stretching it a bit. Requiring a spam link to host your photos is both unusual and not very user friendly. Other main-stream photo hosts don't require this at all.

It has all the functionality. Sorry that it doesn't provide exactly what you seek.

Security?

How are BBCode links and image embeds "more secure" than HTML anchor and image tags?

BBCODE strips away any malicious coding. HTML can be used to hack into the server through the software. So, we limit HTML.

On more thing. The BBCODE has a javascript routine that resizes the appearence of photos that are oversized. If you could put a photo in via HTML there would be no resizing going on.

Many users ignore the pixel count of the photos they try to post and this ruins the page view. It's common for people to
