My new Axe! #V032507 What does it all mean!
Hey everybody! I recently aquired a used Stratocaster with a really cool tweed case. According to the goodies in the case, this one was made in Corona California and has an Olympic White nitrocellulose finish. I don't no much about Fender instruments yet but this one seems very nice! I'm aware that some strats are more desirable than others but I'm not really sure why. My name is Kyle and its nice to be among you all!

A V03 would probably mean it was built around '90-'92, according to my guess-timation? I have a V07 Strat that was built in '94. I believe they are numbered chronologically (if that is the right word) Is yours a '62 reissue?? Photos please! :D

White Nitro
Yes it's a 1957 American Vintage Reissue! An AVRI as I see you call it. I'll upload a picture as soon as I figure out how!

It was expensive to me! ...600 dollars! But I saw that an equivilant from Musicians Friend was like 1800 bucks, and I needed another guitar, so I made the deal.

That's an extremely good deal on a model that is not commonplace.
As long as she's a great sounding and playing guitar (and not stolen goods), you've done quite well indeed.

I appreciate it!
Well it's exciting to hear that I landed a prize! I'm certainly not a pro, infact that's why I joined your forum. I was hoping to visit with some like-minded, friendly, and knowledgeable dudes. The man that was the original owner of this guitar passed away last month sometime. His daughter evidently had no interest in saving her dad's collection(he had several nice guitars) and was advertizing them locally. My buddy new the girl and gave me a call. This one was my favorite, so I bought it. I was sorry to hear about her dad. He'd be happy to know how well I intend to care for it.

Are the plates sequentially used, in a rational order?
Or is this a situation like with AV52 Teles, etc. where the number on the bridge plate is helter skelter, as the plates are grabbed at random out of a big bin?

And as for the Big Bin theory, it says:
"A possible explanation is that Fender just had a large box filled with neckplates and thus placed on guitars in a semi-random fashion. Of course, the box would not contain 10,000 neckplates but rather a couple thousand at the most. This makes it possible to place a guitar into a rather tight year range just by using serial number. The only way to correctly date an AVRI is to correlate the serial number, neckdate, and the codes on the pots."
