Alright, I will be the first one to ask... How come you haven't posted the rules and regulations yet? Not meaning to sound like an imbecile but with 1,095 registered members, you should do more in order to get every member participating. Perhaps a monthly email reminder would do the trick. If you need any help running this website, I do have webmaster experience.

Rules? We have rules? All this time I thought I was just living in beautiful anarchy!
Go get 'em Stratcaster, it's great having you here.

Guess I just don't have any experience running a guitar website.
Yeah, there really hasn't been a need for rules around here... YET.

Thanks Bob! I believe that having a list of rules and regulations can only strengthen this website and make it better. Also, it's great to be here!

Don't you think the rules over at TDPRI should be the same here?

I never said you had no experience in running a guitar website. Strat-Talk looks well put together but rules and regulations should have been posted here in 2006. I understand that there may not be a need for them yet, however you should take action before a problem occurs.

Well, copying rules from another forum and posting them here may cause the admin(s) at TDPRI to get angry. Whenever you run or assist in running a website, originality is key. I learned that on another site I was an admin of. I think one of us should create a list of do's and don'ts and post them here.

Thanks, I know you are only trying to help but I'm not ready to post rules for this website at this time.
PS. I am the webmaster at the TDPRI and Gibson-Talk websites too. I've been running websites vastly larger than this one for 9 years now. I feel I have it under control.

You're welcome. I've never been to TDPRI or Gibson-Talk. I don't own a Gibson anyway but I plan on visiting your other site. I have to ask... If you've been running both of these websites all along, why did you create Strat-Talk? I don't have nine years of experience in running websites, so you probably know a bit more about what to do and what not to do.

Oh, well.
Bubbanov
Actually, the Institute of Noise Squier 51 Modders Forum has been kicking along since not long after that guitar model came out, and the members are pretty much self regulating. It'd be really rewarding if we can manage that here, as well.

Yeah, we are a fair group of folks here. Mostly courteous and passionate about our guitars. If we do need more rules, then I am sure that they will appear.
Most of my forum activity has been at tdpri.com and following the rules there has been good training and experience for me to be a part of other forums. I am sure that more issues will arise there at some point of time, and some here as well. However, Paul (Strat-Talk) does a good job of taking care of business.
Looking forward to hitting my first 1,000 posts here at Strat-Talk.com
Bob

Thanks all. Yes, I'm sure it's due to the small volume of users here but this site has very few problems with unruly members.
The TDPRI is pretty rigid and rule-laden, I'm taking a more open approach here and seeing how things go. Trying to relax a bit with this site.
Fear not. If rules are needed then it will be rules that we have. Until then it's the wild west here -- not really.

Rules? now what sort of rules could you impose on such a bunch of well mannered, enlightened, funny, intelligent, skillful, friendly, talented, passionate people as Strat-Talk members? Seriously, I think it's the laid back approach that attracted me to the site and so far I have found everyone to be all of the afore mentioned...

Hey Gordon,
Yes, it's been as you say pretty laid back. In my experience running forums, at some point some guidelines will have to be established. Too many differing personalities get going and things don't always stay laid back.
But as you can see, we're talking that process very slowly and carefully.

This is a 3 year old thread and one that really isn't all that relevant any longer. So, I'm going to close it now.
