Cort Strat
Are Cort Strats any good? I have a chance to buy one for $100. Does anyone know what the body is made of--alder, basswod, laminate, etc.? If it's not a very good instrument I'd rather wait for a nice Squier II.

I'd wait. I had a cort once, served it's purpose; but I'm not looking for another one.

I have a Cort acoustic road guitar, it does its job and sounds fine. Cort make reasonable intruments.
