It's going to depend on the music and the amp used. And venue. For bedroom/hobby players overwounds work great. In a live band or studio, the brighter and clearer the better, hence the love for vintage low output pickups by many seasoned performers. And stagger makes a difference too.

The best all-around pickups are Telenators since you can adjust the polepeices to alter the character of the pups as the job requires, but they are priced accordingly. Bob goes to levels of detail no other pickup manufacturer would dream of. Each one is a hand-built thing of beauty. That's why they are the only product I have ever endorsed, and I have received no compensation whatsoever for doing so, so I'm not just shilling.

That comment made my mind up. The Klein Low Output set is what I'm going with. I've listened to about 4-5 other clips since my previous post, and that set just sounds so sweet.

For me, its DiMarzio's. Area 58 in the neck, 67 in the middle, and 61 in the bridge.

Opinions on Klein '59s? Thinking about pulling the trigger.
