I have never liked the bridge pickup on my strat. But tele bridges have a limitless more meat to them and I have been thinking about putting one in my strat. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on the matter.
I have done this for a few players as custom loaded guards. You need to make sure you have a humbucker rout in the bridge and depending on who and how they cut the guard you might need to modify the body rout.
MIM is HSH route? I think it depends how you route your pickguard. Tele bridge is quite wide when slanted. It's a 3 hole mount rather than 2 holes like the strat pup. The base is triangle and is quite big. The HSH is really sized for hb, not much room more.
It's mim body so it's got a humbug route. Do you think I'll need to adjust it?
Sent from my mind!!!
I did it here recently in an MIM Start. It's cool...I've since stuck the HB back in but it was certainly a usable sound. I had a regular S/S/S pickguard that I butchered the bridge opening enough to get the Tele pickup in there. No extra routing needed on the MIM.
