Bridge Pickup Died? Help!!

'88 strat, just bought. Selector was extremely hard to move so I lubed with LPS greaseless electronic lube. Played for about two hours and suddenly the bridge pup died, like it was switched off. I can put the switch in the second detent which should be the middle and the lead, and all I get is the middle pup. I have pulled the guard out and all the connections look fine and I have continuity in the switch when it's in the first two positions. So, do pickups go out like that? I've never had that happen in 35 years of playing Stratocasters. Is there a way to test the pickup itself?
Regards.
John

The Solution

Ok, if you run into the same issue I had, an ohm meter will do the trick putting it on the 1000k scale and touching the leads to each of the soldered joints, if the needle pegs to the left ( open ), the pickup is dead. A good one will read between 5k and 7k, maybe 9k if it's a hot pickup. Anyway, mine was dead, sure enough. thought you all might want to know for future reference.
