P-90/Bridge - Humbucker/Neck?Good Idea?

I've always wanted to try this, but everytime I'd ask somebody in a guitar shop or anything they would recomend me to not doing it. Not to go with P90/humbucker sized in Bridge and Humbucker in neck position.

My first real guitar was a Epiphone les paul, that I bought all new in May 2007, after a a year of playing with it I started hating the pickups more and more. They sounded so "Closed up" as I call it, even thou I didn't knew much about pickups and what kind that would fit me and the sound I was looking for I went out searching.

After 5-6 months of playing different guitars with different pickups I heard about a guy who live in Sweden, where I live. johan Lundgren, so I searched after him and found his site. After listening to different pickups I went for 2 of his humbuckers, heaven 57 was his latest work, built exactly after the a 58-59 Gibson PAF. I'm all happy with them, but I can't stop wondering how it would sound If I would've done what I wanted to do in first place.

That is to go with a Heaven 57' humbucker in Neck and a P-90/humcker sized in Bridge.

Many say that it wont be as good, because the P-90 is not that strong to hold in a bridge/humcker neck position, so it wouldn't be able to compeed with the humbucker.

Most people say that P-90 in neck and humucker in Bridge position is the way to go.

but I don't want that, I don't want Clear/bridge Vs Fat/Neck instead I want Fat/bridge and Clear/neck.
Is that wrong? Which one would you go for?

this is important for me, cause I'm about to buy a Gibson guitar soon, I'll be changing the pickups on my Epi Les paul, taking them out and putting them inside the Gibson. Then I can be able to Experiment with the Epi Les paul.

I'd stick with a Humbucker at the bridge position! The Gibson Gary Moore Signature, Dark Fire, and Nighthawk all come with the set up you suggest, except with a regular size P90. Check out the Gibson website for reviews, Gibson Guitar: Electric, Acoustic and Bass Guitars, Baldwin Pianos, or better still post your query here, Les Paul Forum | Gibson Epiphone - MyLesPaul.com, and you'll get more help. Your Epiphones a beauty btw.

I know what you mean fenderkev, but I'm mostley intrested in what kind of sound I will get with P-90/94 in Bridge and Humbucker in Neck Position, I have never seen any guitar with that kind of set.

I already know that there are many guitars ser at Clear/bridge Fat/neck but I'm want it the other way around

Mine doesn't really sound much like a Strat but I have a scratch-built Tele-thang with a P60 at the neck and P58 (Active EMGs) at the bridge. I love it and the sound is it's own deal and they're dead silent when you're not playing them.

But there are, as I'm sure lots of you guys are tired of hearing me say, a lot of variables involved. You will never know what your axe will sound like until you have it assembled and played for a while.

I know it doesn't have a P90, but I used to have one of these,(Tele' Custom) for about a month in the early 80's. Single coil at the bridge and Fender Humbucker at the neck (same idea?). From memory, I don't think it sounded too bad at all, though like many 70's Fenders, weight was a big issue and I sold it for that reason.
