Klein Pickups! Wow! Wow and more Wow!

Hello All,

Im doing this as a favour to all those out there on a tonal quest. Put simply, buy some Klein pickups and put em in ya Strat. Tonal quest over. Installed some of his S1's in my strat after sending him clips of the tone I was chasing and he returned the email immediately with his suggestion. I sound more like Hendrix than Hendrix lol - they are that good. I've been round the block and had Fender custom shops (although the fat 50's are amazing) 69's were crap IMO, Keystones and loads of others and these beat them all. NOT EVEN CLOSE. I can barely write this email I'm so blown away by these. Im not related to Chris in any way and do not work for him, this was purely another pickup trial for me. Get some. Plus he's a really nice guy and donates to cancer from his sales. What more can I say. Many Thanks Chris

Well done in your Quest For Tone.

Why did you post this thread up 3 times? Kind of overkill, wouldn't you say?

Please do not do multiple posting in various sections. Once is enough! Thanks from your friendly mods..........

They run about $90 a set which is another good thing and even more a reason to buy some.

Do you have any sound clips, or know where to find some?

I'm using a set of S3 alnico 2's and they're great. They take pedals nicely, and sound good clean. Pretty much sound just like the clips on the site .

saving for another set to try..

The soundclips sound good I think....but why why why the effects?

Am sure having effects doesn't do the pick ups justice.

If you think I'm wrong check out guitar reviews on YouTube, almost everyone has effects or overdriven sounds which makes reviewing the actual tone of the guitar a joke.

The only effects were a little delay on the strat clips. The tele clip had a pedal on it. Most Swamp tele's do.

Obviously 'little' is a matter of taste

Lesson 1 : if the guitar sounds great 'dry' it should only sound different/better with FX. But PLEASE dont demo a guitar sound with FX, it shouldn't need it.

I disagree.

1. I have had FX's ruin the way a pickup sounds.

2. I also know lots of pickups won't take pedals.

3. Having something with versatility will prove better in the long run unlike some pickups who won't handle pickups in the least. Why buy those?

I see what you're saying but to me, if i'm listening to a bunch of different tone clips of pickups I want them to at least be all on the same footing tonally, that way I can truly hear the pickups tone. Like the clips over at the Acme site, theres Fenders, Fralins, Lollars etc.. And they are all setup the same so I can go to each one hear what the actual PU has to offer, without any effects altering the tone quality. As A side note, I guess not all players use all the same pedals so using effects on clips to me is not a good thing. Not sure how many other people buy, just by sound bytes but I personally would never buy anything like PU's that has effects running in the chain.

Mamma always told me, life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what yer gonna get......

Not trying to thread hijack but on a totally different but related matter.

Why is it that hardly no one does clips with the bridge PU's. I look on you tube and a lot of PU makers sites and other sites and 99.999999% of the clips are someone wailing out SRV or JH on the neck or neck/mid combo or mid and bridge combo but not the bridge on Strats... I feel the bridge is just as important as all the others on a strat....
