The story of my (sort of ) resurrected strat.

Here is a horror story of my pre-CBS Strat that I have had for ages....

http://www3.sympatico.ca/cill/TheStratocaster.doc

Hopefully it turned out as well as could be expected....

Nice job. How were you able to get the red tint in the sunburst?

Thanks for the kudos!

But really - anyone can do it - it is not rocket science. I got the paints from an outfit called Reranch in the US (they have a website)- they have the stuff pre-mixed in nitrocellulose spray. They also have tips and clues there on the website.

Like I said in the writeup - I had never, ever tried something like that and it turned out ok. In the flesh you can see (maybe) the odd imperection, but it surely looks better than it did.

If you are in the same boat - don't be afraid. But I would re-iterate - if you have the original finish - leave it! In my case it was long gone so there was nothing to lose....

It is a 3 colour paint process with the third being the reddish overcoat. It is actually 4 part if you count the clear overtop.
