I find that vintage style Marshalls tend to sound warmer than Fenders but break up at an earlier volume.

From that POV it looks not quite as blocky as the '70s contours but not quite as much wood removed as the '60s contours. Definitely closer to '60s though, and very blue :mrgreen:

I have not played any Strats with ebony boards. I have played some LP's and acoustics with ebony, I like the feel, but not the tone.
