Fender Prices

I had heard that Fender prices were going up but did they really go up as much as it looks?? A Fender MIM Strat is now $550? Just a few months ago they were going for about $400, weren't they? That's a 37.5% increase in price! The 52 Hot Rod Tele that I've been drooling over for some time now has also gone up 37.5%. Not that I could afford one at $1600 but now it's too expensive to even dream about one.

Yeh...They went up.

But then again, so has everything else, and on a yearly basis.
I bought my first Tel in 2006 for $399.
3 years later, it was still at that price.

On the other hand, the increase has more than likely put purchasing a new Twin Reverb out of my reach.

I just saw a Fender Champion 600 listed at L&M for 290 CAD, last I checked they were around 200 bucks! That's a huge increase!

Vote with your wallet. When sales suffer the price will drop. My next new bolt on will be a custom hand crafted as it will be less money than an american std.

THe local Guitar Center crew (who I like, unlike some of the other posters' experiences with other GCs) said that Fender hadn't raised prices in almost 3 years, so this is kind of a built-up price increase.

Still, I'd love to see Fender's sales numbers for this time this year versus this time last year. I bet it's a shocking change.

It makes a huge difference when you look at the higher end American models, like the signature models.

Party makes me happy because itll get me a bit more when I sell one of my strats... but I'll probably be looking at a G&L or an ESP for my next strat.

It will also affect used/Ebay prices.

People will think the value of their old gear should raise too.

Good thing I've got my guitar and don't really plan on a Fender purchase except for maybe one of my kids. But he won't be getting anything American made. I just need an amp and a few pedals, then I'm done. I swear!

I don't know why this upsets me so much. I guess it's because it puts an American Strat or 52 Hot Rod Tele that much further out of reach. It's enough to give you gas (that's gas, not G.A.S.).
