Greatest but SIMPLEST Riff?
Hi strat lovers
Here's a different slant on that age old question....what do you consider the greatest yet SIMPLEST riff ever written and why? Is it because it means a lot to you personally or it has that "goosebumps" factor and so on?
Even though I love malmsteen / vai / satriani etc....none of them qualify...would love to hear your thoughts on this

The riffs in
Last Train to Clarksville
Pleasant Valley Sunday
Day Tripper
Paperback Writer
Those riffs define "Electric Guitar" for me. They're so deep in my brain, there's no displacing them.
But the one that sends actual shivers down my spine:
She Said She Said
The one stuck in my head recently:
Love Me Two Times

I think that the greatest but simplest riff would be a riff that everyone uses and has used. A riff that is both timeless yet can be tracked back over 70 years.
This example Tab is in E, but the riff is at home in any key.
E-----------12----
B-------12--------
G---14(Bend up)---

Yep, I think everybody from Robert Johnson to Angus Young has tried to patent that one...

Great place to start. Robert Johnson was a pretty nifty guitar player (hence the crossroads legend). I've an old brass biscuit that I use to get that country blues sound. Blind Boy Fuller is pretty mean too...

Probably Fuller's most famous song. Him & Sonny Terry (harmonica) recorded it in a hotel room in NYC in '38. Rory Gallagher, amongst others, have covered it. I don't think I need to tell you which pistol he's talking about ;-)
