Anyone else out there use 'fast fret'?
I was jamming with this guy last weekend (a friend from work) and he suggested I try this waxy stuff called 'fast fret'...it's this block of waxy crap you slide onto your strings and it smooths them out.
I was skeptical at first...thinking it might "gunk" up my guitar...but I tried it anyway...and WOW. This stuff is quite cool. It just makes the thing easier to play. Sliding up and down the strings feels much easier, even on strings that are pretty new. It leaves pretty much no film or anything on your strings, frets, or fingers. Really cool stuff.
Anyone else out there use this crap?
I've become a fan of it for sure.

I used to use it in my crazy loud 90's band days but haven't bought a can of that stuff for years. Not really sure what exactly it is made up of but it did make your strings feel slippery!!

i use it and really like it. Also helps maintain the strings "like new" feel for longer.

Finger Ease is the spray. Fast Fret is the stuff in the tube (it used to be a can, but they went cheap on us). I use it before and after every gig. It does seem to me it extends the life of the string. And it definitely reduces friction while playing.

I had that same view until this past weekend...but I'm warning you...don't knock it until you try it!
It's like a block you just slide on your strings and it makes them slippery and just increases the ease of playability.
Like I said, I thought it would gunk up my guitar, but it didn't at all. It doesn't even leave a film on your fingers...nothing. I put some on last weekend and it's still going strong as of yesterday, so it seems to last a while too.
It's pretty cool stuff...

Apparently mineral oil stick so pretty safe. Just wondering how much of the oil makes it into your rosewood board though if you're constantly applying it?

According to the container, it contains white mineral oil.

Probably fine then but I would still worry about too much application on a rosewood board; depends on how much you use and how much is wiped off I guess.

it's pretty cool, I tried it a little while when I was a kid. Nowadays I just keep playing till my hand sweats, seems to slide around just fine after that.

I used to use it constantly. Make sure you wipe it off after you play, or it will attract gunk. If the gunk is left too long, it makes it a pain to clean up and everything on the neck starts to feel "sticky".

I've been using it on my Gibson J 150's strings with a rosewood board since late 2002. No problems at all. I don't press the applicator down onto the fretboard, I just glide it along the strings from saddle to nut and wipe the excess off with the cloth that comes with it. If I see some on the board after I apply it to the strings, I just wipe it off.
I always use two cloths. The one that came with the previous stick to wipe down the strings after I play and collect any crud, and the one that came with the new stick I use only to wipe the excess away. That keeps the stick and the new cloth cleaner longer. When the stick and the "excess cloth" starts looking dirty, usually after 6-8 months, I get a new one. Prevents reapplying crud that way.
