If i need inspiration i take an acoustic and go for a long walk in the bush or the desert find a quiet spot and camp out for awhile. Being alone for a few weeks works wonders for your inspiration. I used to take a voice activated micro cassette these days its a zoom H2 for recording.

I always heard that too much meditation would make you go blind...or was that something else?

nothing wrong with meditation and self reflection.

I wouldn't do it to "be like Jimi" though. Do it because you want to do it.

Be yourself Sir.

and I meditate if sitting alone and writing counts.

So i meditated and I feel energized and refreshed, even though Ive been up over 24hrs. jammin out, I recomend it, and again Its nice, Its all about not thinking by just focusing on your breathing while it gets shallower

Yoga and meditation aren't going to help you find inspiration. I took yoga in college... I was the only guy in the class... Ok, so yoga did help me find something! I wouldn't call it inspiration though. Seriously, get into a physical routine and get on a normal sleep cycle. You will feel much better physically and mentally. Your creativity will flow like never before!

as a lifelong insomniac I would agree that actual sleep is the best meditation.

It can be hard though.

I honestly don't know the difference between meditation and self-hypnosis. I do about 15 minutes a day of self-hypnosis and I'm a great believer in it. You can do some amazing things with it in terms of stress relief, self improvement, memory enhancement and problem solving to name a few. It's even helped my guitar playing, believe it or not*.

*Keep in mind that I still suck, but not quite as bad as I used to.

whats a git-fiddle?

I got this in a forum

There are some jazz improvisation players who think there's a big difference between players who have smoked weed (or other stuff) for years and those who haven't. I think it has more to do with being sensitive to what the other players are playing and improvising with sensitivity and complimenting the group/music as a whole (vs just your solo'ing) as opposed to long term drug use.

Meditation doesn't equal talent. You should spend your time chasing something real and not something somebody said when they were high.

HAHAHA! Sure they rule, but they didn't start meditating until after they made millions! Before that they just practiced and worked.
