Ever noticed how the simplest changes...

...can have such a profound effect on your Strat's overall appearance? That's one of the things I love about them--you decide you need a little change, go and spend a few bucks and before you know it it's like a new guitar again.

These are all images of my 1992 MIJ Squier strat that started out as a Wayne’s World model until the guy I traded it to in 2000 got rid of the WW neckplate and routed it to fit a humbucker in the bridge position. I later bought it back really cheap and have continued to modify it a little here & there over the years.

1992-2000--All original:

2000-2010--2nd owner had put a black humbucker in it and I had changed the covers on the pickups and the knobs to make them match:

Today--new mirror pickguard & back to white pickups:

That's the Duncan SHR-1B "Hot Rails". This guitar was quite hot sounding with the Jackson full size humbucker the other guy had put into it, and I liked it and didn't want to lose all of that crunch so I went with the Hot Rails.

Call me boring, but I like it in the picture w/ the cat! And, I agree, little changes on a Strat make a big difference.

I like it both ways (though part of me wishes the guitar was all original but that bridge was burned years ago). I'm putting the other pickguard away for future use (although I'll probably replace the hacked pickguard with a new professionally cut one when I do reuse the pickups) but for now I just wanted a change and I actually LOVE the way a mirror pickguard looks on an Olympic White strat with a rosewood fretboard. The pickguard was $19.95 from GFS.
