Got a new Job!

Well Strat-Talk Family, I have been sitting on this news for a couple of days now, but since it is official now I would like to let you guys know I got a new job. I prayed and prayed that I wouldn't be unemployed after college. I just graduated in May and I'm allowed to work my student job until August. I was so worried that I wasn't going to be able to find anything, and I even had started selling off some of my gear in anticipation. Well last week they called me to let me know I had got a job working for the University of Alabama as a Community College Transfer Adviser!

I'm so excited I begin work on August 16th and I start training on the 12th of July. Training includes an all expenses paid trip to Washington D.C and a White House tour during my 23rd Birthday ( July 25-29).

It sucks that in total I have had to let 3 guitars and an amp go ( bugera 1960, Squier CV, 1981 Fender bullet, and I am trying to sell Lucille now), but Im not too worried. This new Job pays almost 4 times what I have been making in a month, and my girlfriend just started her nurse job which pays about 3600 a month. So soon, after I pay off some of my debts, You should expect an NGD or NAD from me every other week... Ok Im kidding about that, but I am going to buy some nice stuff to replace the stuff that went.

Anyway just wanted to let you guys know.

Congrats! What was your major? Being only 20 myself, I'm pretty terrified of what is waiting for me after college. I'm hoping to transfer to a university here pretty quick, but have no idea what to take since I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Sorry you had to sell off some gear, but I'm sure you'll replace it all, and then some!

I was a lowly English Major ( Just search the internet for English Major jokes...). My best advice is to start applying for jobs super early and make sure to do some volunteer work or an internship. I didn't have either but my work as my Fraternity's Vice President really appealed to a bunch of interviewers. I also started applying for jobs in March or April. I probably filled out 5 applications a day from March-June, only a hand full of people called me back, and I finally got a job after about 3 months of applying. Be diligent and don't give up. Also see a professional about career counseling. I saw one that showed me some pointers about setting up my resume and where to look for jobs. Monster.com and craigslist are incredible sources.

Good news is the best kind... glad to hear it Yogi. You've been working for all these years for your future and now your future is paying you back. Good luck at the new job and may you prosper... I see many HNGD's in your future.

Well I'm close to selling my Epi Lucille and I've always wanted to have a high end 335. So I'm looking at Heritages, Gibsons, Tokai and Edwards. I also have always lusted after either a vintage fender amp or a Two rock.

However my dog has been sick lately and I haven't had money to take him to the vet, so I'm gonna take care of my best friend first.

Congrats, Yogi! I'm sure that really puts your mind at ease.... Sucks losing the '81 Bullet... mine got burned up. When is your B-Day? Mine is the 29th... I'll be 50. I just read something from a naturalist in a magazine that said "Nature really has no use for humans over 50." Which I guess is actually true, when you think about it... But I digress... Congrats again!

Oh man its all good. I ended getting trade partial/cash for the bullet so I was happy. Got another 335 no name clone that plays a lot better than my lucille and I also got a custom prototype pedal that the guy builds. Its based off TS808 circuit but with a fat switch and two different gain stage voicings. Much better than an Ibanez 808 or 9 IMO.

Oh and my birthday is on the 26th. Hopefully they'll let me get away from training for a bit so I can celebrate a little bit
