Bullet neck pocket fitting issues with MM neck
hello everyone,
I purchased a new MM neck, vintage V-shape, Maple board. This thing is nice. After taking off the old neck, which I could never get the action just right with, I notice that the neck pocket on the Bullet is complete garbage. It looks like someone took a wood chisel and a hammer and went to town
My old Affinity's neck pocket looked like it was routed out by a CNC machine or something. This Bullet's is so bad that I cannot get the MM neck to work right either. It's the same problem as the Bullet neck...that I thought was bad!
I'm now thinking that both necks are good and the body is unusable.
2 questions:
1. For you Bullet owners, have any of you ever took of the neck for any reason and noticed if the neck pocket was all jacked up? I'm thinking that maybe I just got a really bad one or something.
2. Do you all think I should cut my losses and trash the body and just buy a new body? I can get Mighty Mite (MM) bodies, painted and all for $129.00. I saw an Affinity in the Pawn Shop for $90.00 or Do you think I should try to get another Bullet if others say their neck pockes are fine?
It wouldn't be so bad except that I've upgraded the Tremolo, Pickguard, Have real Fender replacement Volume and tone pots and selector switch, vintage wiring, Seymour Duncan pickups, locking tunners and a Graphtech nut. So....the only thing on this entire guitar that is stock is the neck screws, pickguard screws and neck plate. So I would really only be looking for a new body.
Thanks,
Jeremy

If the pocket is all messed up I'd get a better body. I think the body of a Bullet is their weakest link anyhow. There's a guy on ebay who sells pre-painted strat bodies (in USA thickness and dimensions) for 59.99 plus shipping in red, black, sunburst, or white, and they are sweet pieces for the money... I've used them, and I've used MM bodies too... these are just as nice, and the best price you'll find anywhere. Perfect finish, your MM neck will fit like a glove. You do need to drill out the holes for your bridge and pickguard and stuff, but it's really not hard, and is actually kind of fun. Use all the parts from your bullet body, and your MM neck and you'll build yourself a sweet partscaster. That's what I would do.

Joeybsyc,
Do you have a ebay link for these? You can PM me if you like. I believe this is what I need to do instead of spending any more frustrated time with it. Thanks,
Jeremy

Hey Joey, my body should be here on Wed. 3/11/09. Is the body cavities shielded with conductive paint?

No, it's not. Just painted like the rest of the body.
