Squire 50th Anniversary Wiring

Hi all, I am new to this site after recently acquiring both a fiesta red 1997 affinity (£30 delivered off the bay, long story....) and a black 1996 50th anniversary (payment for fixing a friends computer)

I have dismantled the black one after I decided it needed a deep clean due to the amount of gunk and rust on the hardware and also the remnants of some red sequined material on the pup covers....

Would anyone be able to point me to a wiring diagram for this series guitar as the affinity one on the squire website doesn't match this guitar....

Basically I think that someone has removed the pups and the selector switch to cover the pups / pick guard with material and put it all back in the wrong place.

Pics of project here

Thanks all you GAS / GAD guys and galls

I hope this helps a bit. It is not a wiring diagram but a picture of the wiring from my 1996 squire.

Philm0l,
It looks like the bridge pickup is reversed! Not sure what is going on. The wiring looks different that anything I have schemes for...which is not alot. Sorry I'm not much help. It could be that someone tried to do a different wiring that stock and didn't really know what they were doing and just soldered stuff until it started making sound again. It's possible.

Here is the most common strat wiring diagram:

Sorry if you already have this or is not really what you need. I'm just trying to help a strat player out. Please don't flame!

Also Wiring Diagrams - Seymour Duncan/Basslines has a dropdown menu where you select what type of guitar and config and it will show you a wiring diagram.

Thanks Jeremy, the first link looks the closest to my arrangement.

I forgot to mention that the bridge pickup looked upside down too (well spotted)

I also think the selector switch is upside down too looking at the marking on the foil.

There are no numbers on the wiring diagram for the selector switch so I will presume that it will number one at the top.

Thanks again (no flaming here dude) glad to have any info at all.....

If you follow the link supplied by JKSteger, and wire up your Squier to that wiring diagram it will be correct, i suspect someone has turned the bridge pickup around in an attempt at some Hendrix tones.

Welcome to the forum

Thank you gents.

If anyone could tell me the numbering sequence of the selector switch on the diagram I would be very grateful.....

Sorry to be a pain its just I don't want to restring it to find that it doesn't work as it should do..

Looks like a handy doc to keep for us tinkerers........

Now all I have to do is sort out the crack through the body.
