50th Anniversary Bullet?

Hi everyone! Recent lurker, first time poster

I've been offered a "50th Anniversary Bullet" as part of a gear trade. It's seen better days as far as cosmetics, it's currently covered in stickers, and has a few dings in it from being dropped it appears. It plays well, though. Does anyone have any input as to what the background is on this model? There's very little info online about it, Wiki seems to suggest it's on par with a MIM Strat due to body size, electronics, 22 fret neck, etc. but other than that there's not much to be found.

So basically what I'm asking is, do I grab it, re-finish the body, and be happy with an inexpensive single coil guitar? My 2 current electrics are both humbuckers...

Thanks!

Couple of distortion stomp boxes I have but rarely use.

Yeah I know, it's probably a no-brainer, but still... I'm one of those types who researches gear 2 ways to Sunday before any purchase or trade LOL

No it's probably a bullet squier strat that has the FENDER 50th anniversary sticker on the headstock. I have one that I bought new when in 1996. It has very bad electronics and pickups but does have a full size body and the neck is "ok". I think it depends on if you really want it?

So it sounds like you'll be doing some upgrading and wiring so if you want to experiment, but remember it will all be for an OK neck.

After playing it a bit, the selector switch is junk and the body is dinged up worse than I thought. It still played very nice, I have larger fingers and it was a very comfortable neck for me to play. So I offered an old Boss OD pedal in trade which he gladly took. So I'm now officially a member of the Squier/Fender family!

Now... time to start re-reading all the posts here about dropping in new pups and switches, refinishing bodies and necks.... (insert evil laugh here). I've refinished a few drumkits in recent years (I'm primarily a drummer) but this will be my first guitar project. I'm excited!
