Squier mfg point
I just purchased a Fender Squier Strat that does not say where it was made. The serial number starts CAE followed by 10 digits. The pick guard is 3 ply white-black-white and the lettering on headstock is black. Any idea where it was made and how old it might be?

I don't know that "CAE" designation, but maybe someone else here will.
Did you ever find out about your "squier" that wasn't marked as a "squier" that you brought up in an earlier post?

Sorry I didn't get back on that things got kinda busy. It was a Mexican Made Standard Strat. It turned out to be a good deal for me. My son likes it a lot.

Hey, sticks! I'll hazard a guess and say China. I have a CIC Squire strat from a Strat Pack whose s/n is prefixed with CXS. The CAE and CXS prefixes are kind of rare from what I've seen scrounging around the internet. It does seem that most Chinese made Fenders start with "C" in their numer prefixes, although CN was used as a prefix for Korean made Fenders in the 1990's.

Yeah, Doug is probably right about China......I have only ever heard of CXS but who knows what combo of letters are used in China.

I bought an used Squier California Strat three days ago. I really like the guitar, but am searching for the year this guitar was made. The serial number starts with CXS and it has "Crafted in China" written in the back of the headstock. Doese anyone know how to discover the year it was made?
Thanks

Sticks: The CA prefix is made at the Axl factory in China. (According to research. This may not be correct. It does not sound like MIM.

Hey, sorry to bring up an old thread but i have CAE as the first three letters in the serial number on my Squier Strat and i've searched everywhere on the internet about the CAE prefix and can't find anything. My strat also says "Made in China" on a sticker on the neck. So can anyone tell me when my strat was made? the serial number is CAE-0050511970

CAE Strats are a Squier SE. They are made in China and were originally sold in a "Strat Pack" bundle with a Squier SP10 amp and some accessories. They are a decent guitar as they come and an excellent modding base.
If you search around the forum here you will find numerous threads about Squier SEs.
