Not enough Buick fans around either.
And I wonder what he is looking at on the screen. His playing and sound are fantastic though.

I own a squier classic vibe 60s sunburst and 50s white...these are some seriously great guitars.I do own many other more expensive models but this series is as good. They use the right body wood. The workmanship is excellent...the bodies are sanded down really smoothly and sleekly. The pickups are great too...they use fiber bobbins instead of cheaper plastic found even on more expensive models. They are hands down the best bang for the buck deal out there.

You're right..... Squires are brilliant when set up correctly and played by an awsome guitarist
Check this out

Great chops, sweet tone! The guitar is not the whole story, what amp and/or pedals is he using?

That mostly "proves" to me that it is the player, not the guitar. A great player on a cheap guitar will sound better than a crappy player on a great guitar. Also - the amp is more important than the guitar in most cases.
That guys sounds good, though!
I've got a couple of Squiers and I rather like them. They are what they are, though - just because a good player can make them sound amazing doesn't mean that they are "on par" with most of their higher end Fender cousins. Granted, there is some overlap between the nicer Squiers and lower end Fenders.
When it comes to bang for your buck - the Squiers are the way to go...

Many would be surprised - no amp at all. Just his guitar, a small mixing board and a Digitech GSP1101 rackmount processor. Do check out his other vids on Youtube as well as his websites/blogs. Pretty interesting dude.
While I'd recommend most of his guitar videos, if nothing else, check out his (clearly) tongue-in-cheek videos "Fender Squier Strat Sounds like Crap" and "Fender Stratocaster (Squier) Can't Do Metal". I like his sense of humor.
More ammo to blow holes into some sacred cows. Fun stuff. Tone and sound is in the hands of the player - period.

How could you tell that the second video was a Squier? Also, what type of Squier?

Not too surprised. I own a GSP1101 and it is awesome! ...and I've owned many tube amps. Anyway, this guy sounds and plays really good.

I'm sorry but i fail to hear what great tone this guitar has - seems to me to have all highs and mids but no lows.
I have several squires that are fitted out with genuine fender pickups and they leave this one for dead.
By the sound i would guess it has cheap ceramic pickups that lack definition - there is to much high end and they just sound tinny to me.
I guess i have just gotten so used to good quality pickups that nothing else sounds any good to me.
Just my opinion - i could be wrong - all comes down to what sound your chasing

The second video is of Steve Rothery of Marillion. His guitar is a Squire Strat with EMG pups (He now uses Lindy Fralin Pick-Ups) and Kahler tremelo, Large headstock. He used to play through Marshall and JC120 amps with just a delay (TC 2290). He now uses Blade guitars and also his signature series guitars. His Squire is an early 80's, possibly a JV but I'm not too sure, and was used for pretty much every album marillion recorded between 1985 and the present.

Marillion? as in The Silmarillion by Tolkien. They sound pretty cool and as a Tolkien fan i'm quite intrigued. Thanks for sharing.
