HM strats?

Anyone else have a Squier HM strat? (HM = heavy metal)
They made these for a short time in the late 80s-early 90s. I have a regular Fender HM strat and a couple of Squier HM strats. I recently Picked up a blue Squier HM3 neck-thru strat.
I wasn't sure if this was the place to discuss them since this section of the forum seems to be mainly about about S-styled Squiers.
Technically, it is a Squier but if I started this thread in the wrong place - mods, please move it.

I have 12 (twelve) HM USA Fender Strats. 3 extra bodies and 2 extra necks and many bridges and misc parts for them. I have bought every one I come in contact with for a few years LOL. Two Local music stores call me everytime one comes in.

I played my first one in 1988. I have no Squire HM's though.

I have been playing/buying MIA Stratocasters for the last few years though.

I should mention none of the HM guitars or parts will ever be for sale, I like them too much. They are a great guitar. I ahve always wondered about the Squire model of it but I have never seen or played one.

Looks like a nice Ibanez rip off. Can't beat a through neck guitar eh, I love them.

I only have one. Its the turquoise/teal green one with the rosewood neck. I'm still hunting for one with a maple neck, then I'm done with the Fender HMs. I like a slimmer neck and the necks on the Fender HMs are kinda wide.
This one is fairly slim but it seems that the HM Squiers had slimmer necks.

Diocletian:
If I'm not mistaken, I read somewhere that these were built in the same factory as the Ibanez guitars.

This is the only neck-0thru guitar I own, so I bought it partially out of curiosity and partly because I really like that color.

Its back to maple necks for me from here on out. I like a good maple neck with a nice gun oil finish.

bcsracingimages, that looks like an E or S9 Fat Strat, not a HM. What are the serials of the HM's? I have seen them in the old Frontline mags and reckon they will be from the Samick factory (S9)? I've been after one for years, it'd be a great hard rocker I'd think. I'd love one to use on stage for some of the heavier stuff my band does.

Thanks Ausquier, I've had the guitar for years but never known anything about it. It does have an S9xxxxx serial number. Any suggestions where I might first nd out any more about the model?

It was made in Korea at the Samick factory (89-91). Most likely a ply body, 12" rad neck, Schaller US tuners, is that a real Floyd Rose? Looks like a nice guitar. I have an S9 and its neck (and tone) is killer. Best Strat I own, ply or otherwise. Only downside is its a tad heavy.

Thanks Ausquier, it is a nice guitar although it could do with a bit of an overhaul as it's been neglected a bit recently. It's a Schaller Floyd Rose, and you're right about it being a ply body too, and heavy! I like it though, spotted it in a store some years back and I don't think they knew properly what it was.

Bet it still sounds and plays great. ;-) Ply makes no difference.
