Don't think I have came across any dislike for the CV Strats and original they were certainly the deal of a decade but now their up to $485 here in Canada from $299!
Compared to a MIM Std around $650+ I still think I'd opted for the 50 or 60's CV and save some money since I love the Alnico pickups vs the cheapy Ceramics in the MIM Stds.

Well I have this forum to thank to push me over the edge to make the purchase. I read many (not all) posts here and on Muscian's Friend, Harmony Central, etc...I had such a negative impression of Squier but they nailed this one.
I would have to agree with previous posters that the playability and build quality are really great. I like the pick-ups too. The AlNiCo 5's have just the right amount of rip and they clean up nicely.
I'm a big John Mayer fan. Love his music and TONE TONE TONE. Now I know I can't replicate that tone exactly....well because I'm not John Mayer and I don't have the same equipment but that is ok - I can get the feel.
Again - this is a great forum for exchanges ideas and advice...Thanks!

Really! Holy crap!
I haven't seen any lately in my usual stores, so I didn't know they jumped up so damn high.
I'm glad I got my for $350 even when I did.

ya. The cv's jumped up big time and the deluxe. The deluxe went up to $350, but I still picked one up anyways!

The Deluxe, Classic Vibe or Vintage Modified are all outstanding guitars! I was lucky enough to get the CV's @ $299 and a VM at $349 but both Long & Mcquad & Sherwood here in town sell them for $485 now in which case I say the price narrows it down to the Classic Vibes or the Deluxe.

I got a chance to get my hands on both the cv strat and tele. This is what I am talking about, bang for the buck!
I would say that they both were a pleasure to play, sounded good, and were well made. If the tele had a rosewood neck, it would have went home with me. What more can you ask for @ $350.00...

WEll, that wasn't what I wanted my new guitar to be this year, but it may have to be..... : ) A CV50s in one of the new colors may be in my future.

I know the CV 60s will be available in candy apple red , so that's my next purchase , pickguard has to be white on that one though.

I checked with my local tech and he said he just got back from vacation and the first email he had was from Fender about these guitars. A limited edition in Olympic White and Lake placid blue. The problem is the Canadian price is 449. That is basically the 350 US price with the exchange. Surprisingly I am not intereseted in either color.

According to the info on the link above it will still come with a tortoise guard ?

Eeeewww... a tort guard on candy apple red? No thank you!
Does anyone have a pic of the 60's CV strat with a mint or white guard? I've been thinking of changing it... I just need some motivation/inspiration.

I don't think they'll put a tortoiseshell PG on the CARed CV 60s , this is a pic of a '63

I missed this personally...
Nice to know that its been confirmed 100%
Personally... I'd love a 60's style in Olympic White but I just can't see me digging it with a Maple Fret Board but I'm extremely curios to see the Candy Apple Red thou.
Also just looked at those links again and it appears the 50's in Olympic White will have the Gold Anodized Pickguard ? That will look different...

Well the 50's in Olympic White with the Gold Pickguard and Maple Neck doesn't look as bad as I thought I would have but I still cannot come to terms with the look. Mint Green Guard would defiantly suit it thou. The LP Blue appears to have a real pale neck which I don't particularly care for.
Candy Apple 60's is defiantly look like the winner. That site still sites it as having a tortoise guard thou yet shows it with a white one so it should be interesting to see what they all look like in the end one they hit the shelves.

I saw a Strat anniversary video not too long ago where David Gilmour was playing his 0001 Strat...as soon as I saw it I fell in love with that look.
I almost picked up a sunburst CV50's to round out my CV60's and Pro Tone collection ..I think now I will wait for the white with Gold pickguard ..
That just looks fantastic to me !

Owning both I prefer the 60's. Reason being I love the Neck! The Roseboard board is awesome and the feel of it all is just perfect. While the 50's is also nice it has a slightly chunkier Neck but same profile/frets etc...
Then you just have 2 Tone or 3 Tone unless you get one of the new models in which case you can also pick from Red on the 60's or White and Blue on the 50's.
Hardware wise and Electronics, everything is the same with the exception of the pickups. 50's has alnico 3's and the 60's alnico 5's.
In the end, playing them each is your best bet to decide which you prefer sound wise.

That would be interesting as well...
I'd love to see a 60's Telecaster thou and am quite curious if they have any new colours or models lined up for the Tele or whether its just for the Strat.
