I installed new springs (they were mis-matched) and re-adjusted the bridge to float about 3/64s of the body.

My CV Strat is numbered as follows:
S/N CGS0904103
I bought it August 2009 from Sam Ash in Raleigh NC
Awesome guitar!! I had it cranked through my Johnson Marquis last night, rattling the windows! I was getting a nice Yngwie sound. Not the same kind of sustain with the factory pups, but the signature strat tone was evident.
Nice!

To all the CV fans here...
Question:
I know we've all owned previous guitars. I'm curious to hear what people have owned over the years.. if you're older like me, I'm sure you've had a few "nice " guitars. I'd love to know how people stack up either a guitar they've owned, or currently own, that is price wise, way more expensive than the CV line.
I know that for all the money I've spent throughout the years, this CV guitar is making me happier than any guitar I've ever owned. And, from what I'm reading.. I think numerous people on this site are stoked to have found such a gem.
Please weigh in with what you'd stack this baby up against.. I'm really looking forward to reading what folks have had!
My "expensive guitar list"
2000 Mcinturff Empress
2000 Fender Custom Shop "MOTO" Stratocaster
1985 Hamer Sunburst
2008 PRS Singlecut
???? Epiphone Joe Pass GoldTop
I've owned other guitars over the years, but these babies cost me some coinage..

Well, I got a late start into guitars.. so this CV60s is the most expensive I've owned.. I have less expensive ones.. guess I did it right cuz I am extremely happy.
I do have a question for you all.. I didnt buy mine new, so I dont know this, but how many springs came on the CV60s and in what configuration were they installed?
I came across an interesting video by Carl Verheyen in regards to his setup and am planning to try it out. According to Carl, he can push or pull the trem bar and it returns to pitch everytime.. and, when he pulls it up, it shifts to a set note.. Im just more interested in getting it to return without going sharp or flat.

I've had a '62 Reissue Tele, pink paisley Tele reissue, 3 Mexi-Tele's, American Standard Strat, 60's RI Japanese Strat, 70's Reissue Strat, Epiphone Sheraton, Peavey Reactor, early-80's Squier Bullet, G&L Asat CLassic Tribute, ESP SG-style, Japanese Jerry Donahue Tele, and many more that escape my memory at the moment. This Classic Vibe 60's Strat has made me feel like I'm 14yrs old again! I simply can't put it down, and when I do, I'm thinking about when I can play it again. I sincerely think I'm the happiest I've ever been with this guitar.

I'd put mine up against any MIC, MIK, or MIM strat I've tried the last month or so. I think the CV's blow away the Squire Pro Tone's, sound-wise. The MIJ and MIA strats I've checked out since I acquired my 2 CV's ? The CV's are not in their league. There's more to a great guitar than a great neck and great stock pups, which the CV's have.
jmho, but a "great guitar" to me, is one that's good to go stock, and in no need of upgrades. MIM, MIK, and MIC don't fit that mold. I don't know about the Indonesia models. Never tried one, and won't, unless I see one for 50-60 bucks.

The most impressive detail of my CV 50s is the neck and fret work, It is perfect, better than any guitar I have owned in 40+ years.

I have a sweet Mint condition CV 60's strat. It comes installed with a gfs steel full size tremolo block. WOW!!! Time to let her go. I want a boat and I gotta thin down the heard. Plus I have a sweet Fender Super Champ XD with a Ragin' Cagin' speaker upgrade. $285 for the CV and $315 for the Champ plus actual shipping. If you want to see pics - here is the ad on craigslist. (anybody here can have it for $285.)

Hey guys, have you read the topic about the excesive fret wear of the CV's - "CV's back to the real world" -? Is that real? I mean, do they really have bad quality frets??

I have a CV 50's strat and a CV 50's tele that have gotten almost daily play for the last 8 months, and I have basically zero fret wear. That being said, I play with 9's and not too aggressively. Everybody plays differently with different force and with different strings, so fret wear is pretty subjective if you ask me.

I've read that and I have a CV60s. Yes, the frets are showing some wear, but I have played it almost daily for a year now. It is very comfortable now. At first, they were too tall for me. We'll see how it goes, but yes I do see some wear. Not sure yet if it's good or bad.
I use 10s and probably play pretty hard witih lots of bends.

I play with 10s and after 3 months daily play, there is visible wear. I have had cheap guitars before with tremendous wear and they still played fine so I expect it isn't really a practical problem, but I played my mex Tele for more than a year and probably harder than my CV strat, and the frets on that are still like new...

Well, folks, as of about an hour and a half ago, I have become a member of the Classic Vibe Owner's Club! I bought a CV 50s sunburst strat off ebay for $274. I sure am hoping it's going to be as impressive as a lot of you are making it sound.
I'll post photos and share my impressions when I receive it.

Hello everybody.
I have a question.
Can somebody tell me what is the importance of the aluminum thing on the backside of a pickguard.
I have a new pickguard and it does not have such an aluminum foil at the pickguards. Cand just glue a normal aluminul foil instead?
Thanks

Yes, you can use foil if it reads across the meter. It's a common ground point for your pots and switches.

The foil has to conduct electrical signal , use a multi-meter put both points on the foil and make sure it conducts the signal.

Well-stocked hobby shops that cater to car modelers will have a product called Bare-Metal Foil that will work. Adhesive already on it. Thin, so you would have to be careful applying it. Look for a sheet that doesn't have any cracks or wrinkles.
Just a thought.

Hy Randy,
Thank you very much. I am not from America so I guess in Europe they call it somehow else.
But thank you once again. I will go and look for it.

Bought CGS0803005003 last week - CV50's.
Only went in for a casual browse and the guy in the shop said 'have you tried these?'. I'm not a guitar snob but wasn't interested. Then he played it through an amp and I was surprised how good it sounded....so no need to upgrade pup's. Then I tried it and was amazed by the neck....cutting it short I had to have it because the body is an unusually nice example. After a lot of close inspection I am sure it is one piece and a very nice grain! Set it up according to Fender's standard measurements and it plays beautifully with no tuning stability issues. Very nice nut as well. No it's not a MIA strat, but it's a very good guitar at a silly price. The only change I plan is mint green scratchplate and knobs. Already put a mint green trem cover on as a test and it looks sensational.

I got this a while back, and likely posted a pic but I'm gonna do it again!!
60 CV Strat serial # CGR108001017. Does this mean made in Oct. 2008?:
Gigged 'er last night in a cool hall (Fraternal Order of the Eagles) thru the SCXD and a 4x12 cab, just Bad Monkey, Micro Amp and a 'lil delay from the SCXD. Sounded awesome, LOVE THE GUITAR!!!! Rock on!!!

Might just as well put new full size pots in her a better cap and switch, well I didn't change the switch . I put full size Alphas . If your going to change over the gut to a new pick guard IMO might as well get new pots and cap. Only makes them sound better. Why Alphas cause IMO they are as good as CTS and the stock knobs fit em.

I think you'll find it's actually CGRI08 (a letter 'I' not a number '1'), which would (IMO) equate to September 08 (9th letter in the alphabet = 9th month), this can be confirmed by popping the neck and checking the stamped date on the heel (but only if you feel confident enough to do that).

I wouldn't dream of popping the neck (but thanks for the info!), it is so solid that I wouldn't want to mess it up (I put a Squier 51 neck on a Tele project body and it took a few tries to get it right, luv the CV as is)....and yes I believe you're right; it's CGI. Hard to see in the house and it's been quite overcast. Thanks again for the info and keep rocking the Classic Vibes!
A question I think I know the answer but will ask anyway; I have a Blues Jr. would you trade or sell it to get a CV Duo-Sonic or Tele? I do like the amp a lot and got it for a great price, but there's a Duo on the wall at my local GC that keeps calling to me. I was impressed at how the pickups sounded and I can totally rip it up w/ the short scale. Also want a Tele REAL bad. Bux are very tight and it would be the only way.....anyone?

I'd trade for the Tele.
I finally got to play one last weekend
& found that it lives up to all the hype.
I think it feels like a more substantial guitar
than the Duo-Sonic, for lack of a better term.
It just felt more solid & of better quality to me.
