They are routed for a humbucker in the bridge position.

I've just bought a Fender USA steel block and trem. Has anyone upgraded the block and are there any problems with regards to fitting?
Cheers and Happy New Year!!

I don't think that it will fit without filling some holes and re-drilling.

Depends on the model... Most USA models have a 2 3/16'' screw/string spacing etc... where as the import squiers will have a 2 1/16'' screw/string spacing.
The Block pattern (for the 3 screws) I believe is the same, just depends if the block has a 2 1/16'' or 2 3/16'' string spacing.

Well with all the love I have for my 50's & 60's CV strats I had to give the 50's Tele a try and its not what I was hoping it would be
I absolutely love the sound of the strats and do not plan on changing the pickups but with the Tele I would absolutely have to change the pickups as I find them almost lifeless. I played it throu a Hot Rod Deluxe since that is what I use at home and on the Clean channel it was far from special. Turn on the drive and add some gain and she defiantly came to life a bit but there was just something about the sound that completely turned me off.
Build wise, it was fantastic and just as good as the Strats and the Duo-Sonic. Body had great acoustic sustain. Neck was really tight in pocket without any gaps much so ever. Tuners were nice an tight. Body was well finished and had a decent grain. Neck wasnt anything special and the frets looked considerable smaller (more along the vintage style) vs the MJ. They had a Duo-Sonic beside it and the frets on that were noticeable bigger/higher when compared to the tele.
In the end... I played a Squier Custom (twin soap bars) for some sort of comparison and I much preferred the the sound of that.

That's odd my buddy has the CV Tele and the frets are the same size as my CV Strat and I thought the pickups sounded fantastic.

Try the new Wilkinson Vintage Strat Trem Unit, with import spacing and steel
block. Should screw right-in to your CV Strat. No fuss. It should be the same drilling used in the MIM-STD-Strat and is the best approach for kicking-up your tone.

Nah, we've been too busy playing it!
Adding mine to the list (CV 60s). While I don't have much to compare it to, I did play about 20 different fender models in the store and this one felt as good as all of them. I really do love it. And I guess if "FirstFender" = Squier that's ok too.

Well after thinking about it some more I realized the pickups may have been set to low so that could be the reason why I felt the were a bit weak but why they came to life with more drive.
In the end thou... I just didnt click with the Guitar so I think I'll be sticking with the Strats.

Everyone has a different ear and feel when it comes to guitars. I recently had a friend play my favourite telecaster (2006 Nocaster) and he hated it. Said the neck was too big, frets are tiny, and thought the bridge pup was too hot sounding. I disagree on all points but he loved playing my CV Tele!!

Very well said! In the end, it's all about finding combinations that work for you.

New member and new CV owner here. I picked up the 50's and plan on getting the 60's at the end of the month. I figured I may as well add mine to the list. I am loving the tone of this thing although it came in dire need of a proper setup, there was considerable bow in the neck on mine.

$299 is the street price, and lots of mailrder places (e.g. musiciansfriend.com) also do free shipping.
Sweet deal, eh?

ordered mine today....will be sending the "Bullet" back and the 50's CV will ship then.
the bullet was o.k but nowhere near my CV Telecaster, so I'm thinking the CV Strat is the way to go for me..
will post pics and specs when it arrives.

I just got my 60's CV a few days ago. Of course I had to take it apart and look under the hood. My pickups also have the STA3 on them. I also think that Squier has mixed them up, but regardless the strat sounds great with my '65 deluxe reissue, and the neck is real nice. Also has a great finish.

I'm studying abroad in Japan for now (bought a cheap strat copy here which I like enough for the time being), but I'm looking at getting a strat when I get back home... I was thinkin about a Highway 1, but after hearing all the hubbub about the CV Tele, and now the CV Strat as well, I'm thinking I might have to change my mind. Put the saved cash towards a blues junior or somesuch.
Besides, I'm a poor college student anyways...
And it's 8:15am and I need to go to bed.. eh..

I'm very very close to going in and buying that White CV Tele with the as I called it, flat profile board. Played my Nat Ash '98 Std Srat the other day and it was 'oh right...that Tele felt like this'. Thats good enough for me....unless I get the MIM Classic. Decisions decisions
Its my struggle so I'm not going to post any 'Help Me Decide' posts

I love my CV-60. While the stock pups are decent I loaded mine with a set of calibrated Rails from GFS Lil Killers. Just and unreal Strat now. Also added GFS Trem all stell Trem with large block. All-Parts 60 Slab-Board Fat neck 12 radius with Jumbo 22 frets, and a Bone Nut. Strat is absolutly KILLER now. It was good to start with. Now its GREAT. I'll show you some photos.
But honestly as far as Squier STOCK Strat pick-ups, the VM Strat SD-103 Alnico Vs are seriously GOOD pick-ups. Slightly better than the Fender Classic Vibe Squier pups. Squier copied the Duncans for the CV series. But anyway heres the Strat
BTW the total weight, just over 6lbs, take a GOOD Look at the body. Its a 2-piece center seamed CV-60 highly figured. I've seen and played US Fenders NOT as nice.

Why did you not like the neck?
I think the CV necks are the best part of the guitar personally.
Your mods do look killer though.

I actually built the guitar around the 60 slab board its a beautifull neck and Fat. I like chunky necks and found the CV neck too thin. But it is certainly a well made neck.

They are a universal route like Carvin Strat bodies, and the first time I seen that on any Squier/Fender. Great Idea any combo of pups could be used including HHH.

New CV 50's owner...returning Strat player
I bought a 50's CV just before Xmas, the guy at the shop was surprised they still had one, apparently they've been hot sellers, and I can see why! I've been "electric-less" for about 20 years, and I started trying various Strats over the last few months before settling in the CV. I have to admit price was a consideration, but it was between this and a MIM 50's for over twice the price, and the CV is every bit as nice! It kind of reminds me of the original MIJ Strats from the early 80's, which I loved as well, and wish I had never sold!
I was really thinking I'd have to do some upgrading to the CV, but the only thing I think I may do is replace the bridge with a Wilkinson, as the sloppy trem arm mount drives me nuts! Not sure if it's just mine or if they are all like that...
Anyway, here's my addition to the serial number list. Glad I found this forum!

Not so much I didn't like the neck on the CV-60, I just came across a KILLER Chunky 60 slab-board with 22 jumbo frets. I was holding it and really looking it over. Decided I had to have it. I fit like it was made for my CV-60, and thus we have the start of the nicest partscaster I ever played/built.
Matter of fact I been playing my Lonestar all day and actually miss my CV-60.
