mystery squier strat

Hi,
I just picked up a used Squier today. I am unsure what it is, but the neck and weight feel great.
I've got a 2002 MIM Fender Strat as a reference, and you would have a hard time telling them apart.
So, the attributes of the Squier are:
Solid black letters on headstock: large script Squier, small thin print Strat, under Squier STRAT,
small style Fender script. There is no country of origin anywhere. No serial number anywhere.
The head stock is the exact shape of my 2002 MIM Strat. In fact to shorten this up, the neck is
essentially exactly the same as the 2002 MIM Fender Strat with the following exceptions: The fretboard
is a little thicker. I think the fret board material is like an ebony.
It has pearloid dots at the standard 3-21 frets. The dots blow me away, because they look cooler
than the dots on my Fender. Truss bar access from the head has no little plastic insert.
Body is same size, contour, thickness as my 2002 MIM Strat.
Volume and 2 tone controls are excellent fit. 5 way switch is solid. PUs are wired like my Fender
Highway One. Middle PU is reverse wound. Positions 2 and 4 are really clean like they should be.
3 ply pickguard. The tremelo cover on the back is really cheap polystyrene. Maybe a replacement.
The neck plate is plain. No inscribed Squier.
The bridge looks maybe like an Affinity. The height/length adjustment blocks are steel blocks (not stamped).
And this thing resonants and sustains with the best in my collection. Even if it is nothing special,
it is already setup for fast action. The tremelo is fine, and strings come right back into tune.
Any ideas about identifying this sweetie???

Sounds great. How about some photos... especially of the logos on the headstock.

As promised some photos of unknown squier here

Hi,
Please take a look and let me know if you have any ideas about what this animal is: http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/delphibeaks
I hope the link works for you. I tried it out.
Other observations by me. The logo area on the headstock is screened on. It is not a waterslide. If this is a knockoff, it was manufactured this way, not modified by an individual. There are no indications of scratched or worn areas on the head where information has been removed. But has anyone ever heard of a Squier without a manufacturing location or serial number. I am baffled. Even if we don't figure out what this is. It is still a sweet guitar.
The body and neck are really like my 2002 MIM Fender Strat. Dimensionally it would be difficult to find differences. As noted the neck is interesting. Even better than my Highway One. The Highway One neck is fine, it just isn't finished as well. Check out the edge of the fret board. The fret edges are capped. This baby is smooth as, well a baby's butt. And the dot inlays in the fretboard. Most Squires I've seen they are painted on. This critter has pearloid inlay dots.

Original SQUIER Strat without serial number

Wow, this is incredible !! Two days ago I discovered the same Squier Strat model without serial number and am looking for information about originality!

The price is very interesting and the seller tells exactly the same: no serial number and the pictures correspond to your Strat. It originally had a sticker on it saying that it was produced in MALAYSIA for a short period of time, before the introduction of the first bullet series !?

I never heard of any Strat, either Fender or Squier, without a serial number, but the seller also loves the sound and it must have been made beginning of the nineties!!

Did you find out any more details about the production place or time?

The tuners have a little Squier logo on it, so it really must be original. However, the missing serial number on the back of the headstock is a little strange!!

Do you think I should buy this one? Or do you think yours is an original? For me it really looks like a Squier Strat when looking at the photos!

Would love to hear your opinion! Iris

I'm thinking Chinese rip-off but it seems odd they knock-off the cheaper Squier. I don't know of any Fender products made in Malaysia or sold without a serial number.

I have one of these strats. It came out of a 2002 Squier Bullet Strat starter pack. Somehow, mine still has the serial number sticker and made in China sticker which are holding on by a thread. Sorry if my pics are big.

Here's a pic of the guitar:

Here's one of the serial # sticker:

Also I still have the amp and even box it came in....
