I love the look, especially the Surf Green, which seems to be the least common (they probably all got snapped up) I've seen some of the Daphne Blue and Fiesta Red ones around. It's not 100% 'classic' sure, but there have been a few painted Fender headstocks over time and I think it looks 'classy', in a 60's sort of a way somehow. If you like it, stick with it, and that is one fairly scarce guitar.

Affecting tone ? It affected my face and made it smile, that's about all *grin*, seriously .... I reckon changing the tuning keys or the pickguard is more likely to do that !

My Mary Kaye Strat has gold hardware, that's also not 'typical normal' but I love it for classyness

Enjoy your beautiful, beautiful surfy Strat

Beautiful guitar, love the headstock but you could always strip or sand it if you find you're leaking mojo;)

Here are some pics of the guitar I made in Iraq, and it has a matching headstock. Just figured I'd share it with everyone.

Thanks all. I'm pretty proud of it. It sounds and plays pretty good. Hand chisles and wood rasps do still work in a pinch.

I feel the same. The matching headstock just seems an overkill to me.

I really love the look of a Surf Green body with a rosewood neck, but when it comes to a matching headstock, I prefer it with a maple neck.

Funny how people prefer different colour combinations !

I don't really like the looks on a Strat... sometimes... maybe on a black Aerodyne... but usually it's not my thing.

Yep. Love 'em! I think it just dresses it up.......kinda kicks it up a notch visually, which a Strat does not neccessarily need, but I think it can be really cool particularly with rosewood necks imo. But, then again, I'm just a rosewood guy...
