Do you mean buffing it out or removing it completely?

i just used pledge on mine, really made it nice. also, i don't believe that the highway ones really use any nitro. i think it is all an acrylic lacquer. i sprayed mine with canned air upside down (very cold) and it did not check in the least. I'm going to try putting it in the freezer eventually then let it sit out in the sun to see if that does anything.

Pledge contains silicone and should not be used on guitars.

I can't predict which products you can get in Greece. In the USA, I would use Meguiar's Scratch X. This will polish out the smudges and make the finish glossier and glossier although this lacquer finish has de-glossing agents which inhibit that real rich nitro glow.

Modern "nitro" is not formulated the same as historic nitro - checking can actually be seen healing on these new high tech reformulated nitros.

But I'm gonna call this Upgrade Highway One finish "nitro" because it for sure isn't acrylic lacquer. However the guitars from before June, 2005 "Generation 1" Highway Ones are in fact acrylic lacquer top coated.

I agree, silicone is bad. Might not bother you but when you bring that pledge soaked guitar to a luthier for work, you're contaminating his whole work environment and you might ruin a dozen of his later paint jobs in the process. Pledge is typhoid mary.

I see, I guess I will avoid the pledge then!

And for the record, my bass is a 2003 jazz! Guess I don't need to stick it in the freezer. Thanks!
