2006 Mexican Stratocaster - how much?

How much should I offer for this 2006 Fender Stratocaster made in Mexico?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a million!

250-325 usd is what they're worth. Its a bit of a range but it depends on what the owner thinks they have really. $300usd isn't too likely to be denied I would think. But don't be a dick and lowball him, Bad Karma for your guitar follows it it's whole existence, and you don't want to be responsible for that do you?

Since you are in Canada you should think of the savings on the tax vs buying in a store. The 2006 model was upgraded with better pickups, a larger block and is a more desireable guitar compared to earleir years. Since it is a fat Strat I really can't say. Do you know what the person wants. Sometimes they are not looking for a lot. I would say that if you take the cost in 2006 and go about 60 percent of that he would not be upset.
BTW: The wine red is beautiful.

Just be aware that HSS Strats are always a tradeoff. You'll either have no highs on the bucker and good singles, or a tight bucker and overly bright singles. With only one volume pot you need to decide which pups you voice it for. You can solve it by setting the switching scheme such that a 500K resistor is in parallel with the pot when singles are selected and using a 500K pot. That will give you 500K on the bucker and 250 on the singles.

The other posters are right on with the price but that hard case has some value too so if you were to get it for the 300 give or take that would be a real good deal ! Even 350 if it's a nice case. MF sells a foreign made one for about $40 so if that one is in REAL nice condition ( Even a "cheapie"), it should be worth $20-25 alone.

Color is (375) Midnight Wine

I always paid around $250 for MINT MIMs. I would think thats about right. A HSC is nice with it but it won't raise the value as much as the case is worth used. Just a fact I've noticed in juggling guitars over the years.

I seen a MINT 06 60th Anniversary MIM go for close to $400. with S+H and a Tweed HSC which I was surprized to see. To me I thought that was high. But hey if its what you want and you like it?

But I agree, I wouldn't low-ball anyone either. To me its either in my ballpark or it isn't. If I think its high, I just leave it alone and let it be.

What I don't like is there is no posted asking price, he says to make him an offer and "if it is too low it will simply be ignored".

These guitars were $400 locally in 2006, so 60% would be $240. I found a NOS 2008 at a local dealer yesterday for $338, so I think $240 would be about right.

Thanks for all the help!

Well the pre-07s [before Trem Blocks were upgraded] are still around $250 in the music shops here by me.

I bought a Midnight Wine, exactly like the one above only with a Rosewood board. Noncase or bag or anything but it played VERY WELL. I paid $243 at Sam Ash for it last year. I sold it already but I was just at Sam Ash and the 90's early 2000 are still around the same price. Maybe a bit higher now.

Honestly I think your better offf with a Classic Vibe Squier. The last two Classic vibe teles I looked at Sam Ash and Daddy Music last week, were both outstanding Teles.

I realize your looking for a Strat, I have a CV-60 also. But they just recieved a Editors Pick award this month in Guitra Player mag and I think its well deserved.

Anf you can't even compare the Alnico pups to the MIM Ceramics. the Alnicos are far superior IMO.

Just Sayin...............There are some GREAT MIMs also. But for $300? The Squiers a GREAT deal.

These are things we cannot change. There are many of these out there to worry too much about it.

The precise amount isn't that important. The guitar has "the gift" or it doesn't, and thus is worth owning or it isn't; it is a really nice one - or if it isn't go play the store guitar and buy that if it has a better voice.

This is the key....a guitar is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
I just bought a nice Wine MIM sss with maple neck from Daddy's for $250 out the door. It had a super setup and fret job just done. I thought that was a good deal. It had a sticker for $340 on it. It did not come with a case.

Well hello every one. I just baught a 2006 hss MIM of ebay for $270 inc. shipping and it came with a gig bag all original tags and paper and tremolo bar. The listing said it was a "60th" anniversery but I'm thinking its just a 2006 that says 60th on the neck plate? I'll post some pics when I get it. I'm pretty stooked to be getting back at the guitar. I havent played in forever and I've been playing drums for the past few years...

I have a 2006 Midnight Wine sss MIM Strat, maple fretboard. It plays and sounds fantastic. I liked it much better than my '01 MIM Strat until I changed the pups in the '01 to the Hot Noiseless, which I like much better. I won't tell you what I paid for the '06 'cause it'll make you weep...but the $250 range is a fair price, especially if you get a case with it. Mine's definately a keeper.
It's amazing how different it looks in different lighting conditions. In dim evening twilight, it almost looks deep purple. Very sexy.

Here in Austin an MIM Standard is generally $200-$250 guitar... that midnight wine color is one of the most common ones for MIMs and the HSS config is common with that color, but color has little impact on values on MIM Standards.

It's not obviously fake - and it also has nothing to do with this 5 year old thread - for best results post a new topic, otherwise people may not even notice your unrelated question (like the previous post - no offense to the previous poster)
