JV strat

I went to one of my local shops today and after browsing a lot of the stock, I came across a Jimmie Vaughan signature strat. I noticed the price was marked down for minor scratch so I figured I would play it and if I liked it, see how much I could bring the price down. After playing it and falling in love I was told by the sales guy that he could do $400 even (keep in mind it is brand new) becuase of the minor scratch on the finish and the missing trem arm (I have an extra at home). This seems like an amazing deal to me. Any thoughts? I played it through a Marshall JVM and thought the tones that I could get out of it were nothing short of great. I didn't pull the trigger but am thinking about going back. What do you think?

Supposedly one of Fenders better factory offerings. Did it have the very accentuated V neck? Some of the older ones with the pronounced V are sought after by many people. If you liked the guitar and it played well for you, $400 seems like a steal for a Fender Strat! I would go back and grab it...............

It took me a second to realize you guys were talking about the JV (Jimmie Vaughan) strat. I thought you were talking about the Squier JV. That is probably the best Squier Strat ever built.
Just a heads up. If you are looking for a good buy in a Strat keep your eyes out for a 60th Ann. MIM Strat. They are basically a JV with a rounded C shape neck. They also have a vintage tinted neck and a 3 ply guard. They come with the same Tex Mex pickups and have all of the upgraded 2006 hardware. They come in a huge range of colors as long as you like Blizzard Pearl! I have one and it is a joy to play and sounds very nice. It also has a very flamed neck as well. It is a nice alternative to those who don't like the V neck, and single ply guard.

Hey Zman, that is a nice guitar! I actually like a V profile; really helps with hand fatique I find.........I wasn't sure until I got my MIM 50's classic which has a soft-V. I am assembling a telecaster with a hard V and it feels great! I also like the huge D profile on my Nocaster, again thought I would hate it but it feels great and actually plays really easy and light. I think a lot of players stay away from these big necks fearing that their hands are too small. I have normal size hands I guess and like all the profiles but really like the huge chunky D necks.
