Please, Help identifying this body
Hi there guys.
Here is my problem. I recently bought a guitar and the guy that I bought it from couldn't give me any info about it. I really didn't care much since he sold it for 10$. I thought it could be a great project. I took it apart and found a serial number. Checked it with Fender and according to the website, it is a CIJ Strat. The neck had been replaced and there was no info on it since the headstock was spray painted green!?. I contacted Fender, sent some pics and they said that by the looks it might be a MIM Strat. I was surprised that the response was "by the looks" and nothing regarding the serial number. This is where I need your help. It is worth it to buy a really good neck and bring it to life or is it better to use it as wall decoration? Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated

I can't help you w/ identification but my 2 cents would be to
slap a nice maple neck on that bad girl & bring her back to life.
And maybe some better pickups, too, as pesky suggested.

Now that's a bargain! I'd make a project out of it, and quick. Nice score!

I'd fit a better bridge, quite honestly does'nt look like it would be real worthy.

Yes looks like MIM. Allparts do decent replacement Strat necks. Guitar Parts | Bass Guitar Parts | Am...| AllParts.com A nice set of pups from one of the many great makers you have over there, and you're in business.

Even the newer MIM Strats come with an upgraded bridge compared to this. I'd try to find a full size block on the cheap. Maybe ebay?

Is the body 1.75 inches wide? If so, do what others here have mentioned and put a full-size block and a new bridge assembly in it.

When did they start putting the tilt adjustment in the MIMs?
...and, can you do it after market?

The bridge looks like the one on my USA made 1992 Peavey Predator.
The Peavey has the same bridge and the tilt adjustment for the neck.
The bodies are made from Poplar...
