System 1 Tremolo?

Where can I find one? Or something to replace it?

Thank you,
Danny

What about this? I have bought a Wudtone Strat type guitar fitted with this bridge and I have to say it is one of the smoothest trems I have used.

as an aside - it's really hard to retrofit in my understanding since the schaller post spacings do not match other trem systems. not to be discouraging, but i looked high and low for almost two years before i got my 85 mij contemporary in action again
do you need the whole bridge or just parts?

replacing it with anther trem is not much of an option due to the post spacing.

FWIW, I have 2 Contemporary Strats (both '85's). I love the System One and in the last 3 years or so have accumulated 4 full bridges (with all parts) off of CL. From $60-$100 for the whole bridge with parts. So they are out there...

PapaTom can fix you up for sure but that's a lot of $$$...

Thanks widget

After an extensive search I have come to the same conclusion. So I cleaned up my tremolo and Got it looking much better. I just ordered 2 screws for $7.00 a piece. So I know what you mean about cost. And I've had a look at the alternatives, noticed the modification would be a bigger deal than I wanted to get into. I came across a refurbished System 1 Tremolo for $475 and that's when I decided 2 screw at seven bucks each was perfect. Thanks again for the info. It makes me feel more comfortable about my decision.

I am a big fan of the system 1 trem. They are easy to disassemble and clean up. You can usually buy a complete guitar with the system 1 for less the the tremelo by itself.

I found a spare trem some time back - after i had my original fixed - and the spare had some parts missing and some of the holes were stripped. i took it to a friend who re-tapped everything using the 'helix coil' method (if i remember correctly).
the spare cost me $50 at a local small music shop. the taps ran about $150 but that was every fine tuner hole and the intonation set screws.
I feel good to have a spare after the hassle of getting it fixed to begin with...
i suspect they won't get any easier to find. good luck

Fender System 1 Tremolo and strings.

Okay. If you haven't guessed by now I'm a newbie. And by far this has been the most helpful bunch of guys I've met. When I disassembled it, some of the strings were like this and some were behind the little black plastic flipper things. Which way is right?

Thank you,
Danny

widget, I live 2 hours away from the nearest music store. But you bet I'll be on the lookout for parts.

Here's one about to end and if you got the whole guitar for the lower price (no bids yet only 20 hours left) it would be cheaper than buying a whole trem

It looks in fair shape (the trem)

the system one trem is a great tremolo, I had a couple fine tuners strip out and you can re-tap and use kahler ones, just keep the nut lubed with graphite or teflon and it will stay in tune as any floyd rose will. I have two strats and two teles with them, I love them.
