2008 Paisley Strat Bridge Saddle Screw Size

Does anyone know what the hex saddle screw size is for the 2008 Paisley Strat reissue? The bridge is a vintage style bridge. I've read that US vintage style bridges use a #4-40 set screw. However this does not appear to be the correct size for the Crafted in Japan guitars. Visually I can see that the set screws that came with the bridge have a slightly tighter thread pattern than the #4-40s. The overall radius appears to be right or "close enough".

Woa, that's some nitty gritty that I don't know the answer too. And, I don't know who would either.

I'm sure that any current MIJ vintage bridge saddle screw would fit and the fact that it's a Paisley has zero to do with the sizing.

But still, I don't know who could give you that info. Stew-Mac? I'd go to home depot with the bridge and try out all the MM sized allen-head set screws.

Thanks for the reply. I've had a hard time getting hits wherever I post this question.

You are most likely correct, however I can't seem to find the size of that screw (MIJ Vintage). If someone here knows the standard MIJ vintage screw size please let me know. I've got an email off to Fender. We'll see if they can give me an answer. However, I think they purposely hide measurements so people buy replacement parts from them. If you look at any of their parts lists, they don't list the actual measurements.

we think alike. This was the first thing I did. However my local Home Depot and Menards sell the screws individually packaged in single bags. I couldn't bring myself to break open packages while no one was looking just to test. It may come to this soon however.

BTW, I need to say that this reissue is top quality. Fender's Japanese guitars always seem to be top notch.

I was looking for a set screw on a turntable tonearm recently. I took it into HD. I got a salesman to help me and HE opened each package and we tried them out until we found the right one. Plus they had drawers of these as well. Naturally the one that fit wasn't in one of the drawers... it was in a package.

But I found the set screw and walked out with my $.73 (for a bag of 3) purchase.

Nice strategy . I'll probably give that a try.
