Fender Classic Series '60s Strat
I have a chance to score a '60s Classic Series Fender Strat for a great price. I don't know much about these but I assume that they are the MIM version of the 57/62 US Vintage series. With the word "classic" being used so much by Fender (Classic Series, Classic Player, Classic Vibe) it starts to become confusing when talking about them. Any user opinions out there on these guitars? What pickups are used? Etc.

The Classic Series are very well made guitars !
The 70's have different pickups
The pickups sound very nice ! Vintage Bell-chime- quack. They call them: vintage-style single-coil pickups with staggered pole pieces. They would be MIM as well.
A 60's would have the C shape neck and 7.25 radius.

If you can buy a NICE used one for under $450, that would be a good price.

They are very nice guitars...especially the ones made in the last recent years. The early ones from the late 90s and early 2000s had more square like bodies that were uglier but in the last few years they have have been sanding them down a lot sleeker, like the old vintage guitars they are supposed to a reissue of.They play really well and the pickups sound good....not the top of line but still very respectable. For the money they are a great value. The major difference between these and a genuine vintage 60s Strat is that these have a polyester finish instead of nitrocellulose. If that is a major issue for you,you can check out the roadworn series. Those are the same guitar but finished in a paper thin weathered nitro finish and with Tex Mex pickups.Overall though, the classic series 60s Strat is a great guitar.

I am very lucky. I bought the guitar yesterday off craigslist for $300. The guy selling it bought it new and seldom played it. He's a bass player and bought it to screw around with but it spent most of it's time in a gigbag. The guitar looks brand new. It's a 2000 issue Burgundy Mist color. The plastic was still on the pickguard and trem cover. I took it apart, cleaned the sweat stains and fingerprints off it, adjusted the neck and put on new strings (it still had the originals). I love it.
