Pickup cover color choice for new pick guard.

My PartsOcaster has a color scheme of Chrome Red and a black perloid pick guard with black accent pieces and chrome hardware (see pic). Sorry for the low quality as it was just a quick and dirty snapshot. I have chance to put a brushed aluminum pick guard on it for $30. (see 2nd pic) I love the look of brushed aluminum. This is a completely aluminum machined pick guard not the fake plastic type. What I am in need of is opinions as to a good color for the accent parts ie pickup covers, knobs and switch ball. I for some reason can't see white or black (I have both) looking good on it. I know they make chrome covers but I have not seen any aluminum ones. Help.

+1 Black. Given the picture you shot, anodized black is the only choice. Are you doing country/western? If so, that pearloid could stay. Given the red color of the guitar, I cant see metal. Brushed or otherwise.

Sparkey I dont think its gonna take a Minnesota Recount to figure out which way this vote is gonna go. If you come back with a banana cream colored pickguard on that thing I think Da Boyz here will have some words with you. Now... go see a man about a pickguard willya?

Ya... I gotta be the guy with the opposite opinion here. I think the red would POP a lot better if it had a parchment or aged creme pick guard with creme accessories. But, hey... that's just me.

BTW - I love the CAR!

Bob, are you saying swap the knobs and pickguard covers? Cause if you are, then that would make sense to me as well. But here in Japan thats another $40 or so. As long as the whole control surface matches... itll look fine IMO. I just dont dig when the pups dont match the PG. But thats me. So, since hes got black pups and knobs...

I agree with what's been said, cream pickup covers and knobs with a cream scratchplate, or black scratchplate with what he has.. or black scratchplate with cream knobs & covers.. or.. or.. ah I dunno!

Personally, I'd go with black knobs and covers; they look good on the pearloid, they probably would on the aluminum too.

Oh, and Phat-O-Caster: beautiful pics! Did you actually make the covers? If so, how?? They're sweet!

That red is a pretty outstanding color, and so is the black. Put together there is too much going on. Either the red or the pearloid black make great accent colors.

The aluminum will look better that the black pearloid. Use the black knobs and pup covers. Chrome knobs would be nice. Try using Tele style knobs if you like chrome.
