HNGD FSR Standard Strat
FSR "factory special run":
GuitarCenter
BTW The above is NOT the main GC site it is direct link to this model.
So I don't know about you all but I received "$100 off of $499" coupon from GC in my email yesterday, now, that means you use it and you are a hundred bucks richer, it does not mean that you are now $399 poorer afterward, right? C'mon people.
Clapton started that "Crossroads" rehab center for drug and alcohol addiction maybe he should add a new department for people like me who have incurable GAS. Then again I wonder if Mr. Clapton sees any problem with owning 6 strats, and I think there may be plenty of folks here who could double or triple that number. Anyone quadrule it? Anyway I am so hopelessly in love I am leaving my wife for this guitar. Oh yeah I don't have a wife thank goodness and here are pics

Yes they are, my fine U.K. friend, and BTW I used to live just couple of steps from Regent's Park in your most glorious (IMO) city; I miss jolly old England terribly and the UK in general, great place and sorry we left but we had to come here so Leo Fender could be do his thing in California and give us the ability to be on this here forum. And then your Countrymen, Mr. Beck and Mr. Clapton, showed us how to use Mr. Fender's great creations, though I must say Jimi and SRV didn't do too bad either now, can we at least agree on that much? Oh and I think Mr. Blackmore hails from your great land as well, correct me if I am wrong; if so he is my personal favorite UK Strat master, no offense to Mr. Townshend I am awed by him as well, if he would just please have his beauties shipped to me before (or even after!) he smashes them I'd be most thankful. He can PM me for shipping addrss if he's reading this which I am certain he is as he probably never has anything better to do anyway. Like play in a band or something.
To answer your question, finally (how's that for an opening monolgue) yes, those are in fact the exceedingly fine GFS Lil' Killers, cream color (obviously) and BOTH pups are the middle-output of the 3 output levels they offer, the 10K or whatever. There is a method to that madness, this is how I wire my strats and always have (as far as same outputs on bridge and neck that is, and have always done so with either rail or pole mini humbuckers of one variety or another). What is the method to the madness? Well, I am glad you asked as I will post youtube clips of my playing soon and you will see, the method to my madness is, that frankly speaking, madness is the best method. It just "works" for me, even though it's "wrong" as is playing with your teeth or not using a pick just like the abject failures Mr. Hendix and Mr. Beck did, proving that you should never, ever do things the "wrong" way, or you will become a failure. I do not want to get overly enthusiastic and cause a run on these pups or give the great GFS reasonable cause to execute a price increase, but let us just say that I will now never, ever go back to the others; the search has ended. The middle pup is disconnected and decked a la Mr. Blackmore and Mr. Malmsteen, and now everyone can flame me all they want for that, but only after they post a youtube clip of themselves playing the first 2 cuts on 1984's "Rising Force", and even if executed half as well, the said youtube poster will have then earned the right to tell me how badly Mr. Malmsteen sucks and that he "only plays fast" and with no expression. without such a youtube of a given negative commentator's playing meeting the original recordings' greatness even halfway, I have no respect for their opinions on the matter and when Eric Johnson said that "no one has done anything new on the guitar since Jimi Hendrix" (unless he was misquoted which is always possible and I like him and will give him benefit of the doubt on this) he displayed even more ignorance than arrogance although I entusiastically confess that I have always adored his playing.
So, there you have it. And yes I play jazz, blues and am also and most of all a 31 year devoted classical player with 2 college guitar department head professorships in my resume, and although my skills are still that of a mortal and my ego is in check I am in fact able to discern and appreciate great musicianship and differentiate it from the mindless "shredding" which annoys the heck out of me as much as the rest of my friends here if not more. So there you have it, end of diatribe and answer conveyed

Cellophane off guard
Like a dummy I took original pics with cellophane still stuck to pick guard, looked dull. New pics here, looks better now, more consistent textures from body to guard IMO

Thanks, my fellow fret lovin' friends; I never owned a "Fender" before, just Squiers, which, by the way, I am still and always will be a fierce supporter of and hopeless fanatic for. My CV50's are insanely great instruments, in fact dare I say "as good as" in many ways than my first and only Fender (granted it is an MIM Standard, FSR or not) but I have posted before about my CV50's and even the 2007-present "Bullet Strats with Tremolo" with serial #'s beginning with either COB or COS (both are stunningtacular) being able to kill even an A/B'd MIA with similar pups at GC (after HEAVY mods of course); and my MIK Squier II's with their necks are every bit as good as this one or the CV50's; this FSR neck is glossy and not at all unlike the CV50's and MIK Squier II necks, just slightly different radius/ profile. Really a great guitar, but I have to be completely honest: when I A/B this against my best and most well-modded squiers, you cannot honestly pick a "better" sounding one, if you are honest, you will only say they sound "different", but in good ways all the way around. Why am I talking about Squiers, there is a different section for that. I digress. Sorry!

HNGD! I'd been GASing for one of those myself before I found my Blacktop Strat (or rather, it found me!) Love the Gilmour vibe of these! Enjoy!

Major beauty, and I love the idea of getting the vintage style neck on a $499... Well, $399 Strat.
Congrats!

So THAT'S the guitar I played a few days ago. Thanks for posting this. I asked on the forum what guitar it was and didn't get any replies. If it's a limited edition, maybe I should go back to GC and drop 5 bills on it (4 with a coupon?) I really liked the guitar. Since it's a limited edition I better hurry if I'm going to get one. I don't need another Strat (I've bought 2 HSS Mexistrats in the last 6 weeks) but I don't feel my collection is complete without a SSS Strat.
It has a 10 in the serial number? Is it a 2010 model?

Are the pickups original? The one I played had 3 regular single coils with black covers.

I purchased two of these models at GC within the past few months using the $100 coupon. You can't beat these for the price. Great looking and playing guitars. One I kept stock and the other I only changed pickups. Put in Fender 57/62 pups.
