String Gauge

What String Gauge does everyone use and why ?

Myself, I do not play the Acoustic so I'm not down with the 11/12ga strings as my smaller hands/fingers cannot handle it. Previously was playing with 10's to build up my finger strength but have gone back to 9's so I can now focus more on technique which I'm finding harder with the thicker strings as my hand and fingers get really sore.

So my vote is 09-42.

Hybrids: 09-46, so I voted Other. I used 10s when I re-started last summer, but thought I'd try these. About to put my 3rd set on. I like them.

Nah I hear ya. I strung up my old beater with 9's cause I got em for $3. They are WAY easier to bend. I just like fightin with my guitar sometimes.

it depends on the guitar. my old Gretsch hollowbody has 11's. anything smaller, it rattles. my new Gretsch, the shop put on some ghs CL 9-46's (before I bought the guitar), as mentioned by still fiddlin. I may try these on my strat and my Les Paul.

10-46. I've thought about using 9's on stuff I'm learning lead work on, but it's easy to push them out of tune when I'm hamfisting full barre chords doing rhythm stuff. So I'm staying with 10's and taking a bit of extra time getting bends accurate.

I chose tens. If I am playing a lot though, I prefer elevens. I feel the tone is a bit better... besides, I like my strings to fight back a little bit when I bend them!

9-42 mostly

Heavier strings are not for me. I can be prone to hand injuries and have no cartilage in the first joint of my index finger. Lighter is better in my instance.

Mainly 10s, although I do have some 9.5s on one of my PRS. Why? Because I like them

I love the tone I get from 11s but they can make my weak little fingers sore on occasion so I usually go with 10s. My acoustic gets 12s.

I vote 10-46 I like the sound of heavier gauges especially if tuning down but i get more twang at concert pitch out of the 10's
