Burgundy Mist or Copper strat ? ?
Hello everyone. This is my first posting on Strat-talk - I'm a semi-regular poster on TDPRI.
I've recently started getting the parts together to build a Strat partscaster. I had been looking for an Alder body and I put an ad on the gearpage. I just bought this MIJ 62 reissue body from a guy on the gearpage. Hes calling it a Burgundy Mist but to me it looks more like the metalic Copper available on some of the 52RI Teles. I dont think I've ever seen a Strat in that colour - I'm wondering if its maybe the flash which has changed the appearance of the colour? Any comments from any experienced Stratophiles?
I haven't received the body yet, but I'm ell excited to get started in my new build. I'll post more pictures as it comes together.

It looks like Burgundy Mist to me, or more of a shade of red. Please post pictures of the build.

Indoor lighting and a flash can change things dramatically. The best way to see the true color is no flash under indirect natural daylight. That said, I've seen different variations of what people refer to as burgundy mist, and that appears to be one of them. I have an original '65/'66 catalog that shows whatwhat Burgundy mist is. I will scan that some time and post it up, in the meantime, here's a good example of what Burgundy Mist should look like:

Bagpipe, I don't know if you have checked back since your last post, but after looking for those various pics I have GAS for a Burgundy Mist guitar now...

Yeah, I've been checking in and I agree that the Burgundy Mist shots are nice. Heres another pic I found of someones guitar on the web. I ordered a Mint Green guard for this guitar - hopefully that combo will be nice. I'll post more pics when the body and various parts show up.

Yes, sometimes lighting and the camera itself can really change the actual look of the color. A mint green guard should look nice on it...

I'm having a hard time seeing your guitar as burgundy mist. I have seen this color age to almost a root beer color when exposed to the elements but yours has almost the same color under the guard. Maybe it is just the lighting or the flash. I like a rosewood neck with a green guard with this color. Here's my partscaster. Alder body with brazilian rosewood board, fralins, vintage hardware and plastic with exception of reissue pickguard.
