Just gave my Strat tune up!
My 2000/2001 MIM Stratocaster is pretty beat up but after this round of mods it sounds better than ever! Bought it new/stock several years ago and put Schaller tuners and a Hot Rails in the bridge. I used it like that until today. Here's what was done:
- Completely shielded the cavities
- Put new pots and switch in
- Put GFS overwound pickups in the neck and middle
- Seymour Duncan SSL-4 in the bridge
- New pickguard and pickguard shield
- Rewired all electronics (obviously)
- Put in a Callaham complete bridge/block assembly
It sounds great! I am very happy with the mods done, but I'm not really sure what component(s) had the greatest effect.
Also, my Affinity Strat is in the shop getting a set up and fret level after I shielded/rewired and installed new pickups and bridge in it, so I should be happy when I get that one back too!

Pics will come when I get home from work. Unfortunately, my guitar is a little beat up and I'm not too crazy about the color (purple) so I'm a little embarassed.. :(

As you said, your very happy with the mods. That's always a good thing to have something in your day that works well. Best of Luck!

Don't worry about the ware or color. A strat's beauty is based on how it sounds and how it feels in your hands.

Pic time!
Here's what it looked like a few weeks ago:
Last week:
Today:
My guitar is actually purple, not blue like it looks in those pictures. I left my tripod at work so I had to resort to using a flash. Even with WB set I can't get rid of the blueish tint.
I need to get new knobs, those white ones stand out way too much.

Looks cool.
Did you use naphtha to get the sticky off?

Thanks.
Goo-gone (I'm pretty sure it has naptha or a naptha like ingredient in it).
